From post #1 This seems particularly relevant now that the Mos. Bros. are set for huge majority victories in Egypt's elections. Does the US accept democracy in Egypt or does it declare war upon democracy- as it did in Palestine.
You people have some strange concept of support for democracy. It doesnt render a nation immune from any criticism. Doesnt make every policy of a democratic nation acceptable to nations who support democracy. The Nazis were democratically elected. That doesnt mean we have to accept their choice.
The Moslem Brotherhood ? Even the US of AIPAC hasn't managed that yet. I suppose that when it does we'll just have to ignore it as a minority view- in the same way we view its designations of Hamas and Hizb'allah.
Nor them America's. Even American's don't have to accept it- and the majority of Americans don't vote.
Who gives a flying crap what the Islamonazi Brotherhood says about anything. I say target their worthless murdering asses with drone assignations.
Nonsense. Anybody not wanting to accept it is free to reject it. A non -voting American - and they are the majority- can tell the government to go whistle.
You love America and its people. If you didn't you wouldn't come to PF each day to roll around with us.
The term, "Islamofascism" has been criticized by several scholars[11] and journalists. Historian Niall Ferguson[12] and international relations scholar Angelo Codevilla consider it historically inaccurate and simplistic.[13] Author Richard Alan Nelson criticized the term as being generally used as a pejorative or for propaganda[14][15] purposes. Tony Judt argued in a September 2006 article in the London Review of Books that use of the term was intended to reduce the War on Terror to "a familiar juxtaposition that eliminates exotic complexity and confusion", criticising authors who use the term Islamo-fascism and present themselves as experts despite not having previous expertise about Islam.[16] Critics such as former National Review columnist Joseph Sobran, and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman argue that "Islamofascism is nothing but an empty propaganda term." used by proponents of the "War on Terror".[14][17][18] Security expert Daniel Benjamin, political scientist Norman Finkelstein and The American Conservative columnist Daniel Larison, highlight the claim that, despite its use as a piece of propaganda, the term is inherently meaningless, since as Benjamin notes, "there is no sense in which jihadists embrace fascist ideology as it was developed by Mussolini or anyone else who was associated with the term."[19][20] Cultural historian Richard Webster has argued that grouping many different political ideologies, terrorist and insurgent groups, governments, and religious sects into one single idea of "Islamofascism" may lead to an oversimplification of the phenomenon of terrorism.[21] In a similar vein the National Security Network argues that the term dangerously obscures important distinctions and differences between groups of Islamic extremists while alienating moderate voices in the Muslim world because it "creates the perception that the United States is fighting a religious war against Islam."[22] Daniel Larison attributes proponent Hitchens' support of the phrase to his anti-religious stance.[23] British historian Niall Ferguson points out that this political use of what he calls a "completely misleading concept," is "just a way of making us feel that we're the 'greatest generation' fighting another World War."[12] Reza Aslan claims the term "falls flat" when describing groups like al-Qaeda, noting that they are anti-nationalist while fascism is ultra-nationalist.[24] Commenting on the claimed incongruity between the "Muslim World" and "industrial state fascism," US journalist Eric Margolis claims that ironically the most totalitarian Islamic regimes, "in fact, are America's allies."[25] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamofascism
You can continue posting silly photos if you must, and I'll continue to quote academics and US establishment figures like, for example, Daniel Benjamin who notes, "there is no sense in which jihadists embrace fascist ideology as it was developed by Mussolini or anyone else who was associated with the term." http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4785065.stm
looks like the Coptic Christians in Minya one of the biggest Coptic C regions voted MB too today and yesterday from what they are saying!! How do we explain that phenomenon? Christians voting MB! I was also listening to a Mos Bros person on TV last night saying that they will not desert the Muslims in Palestine in the new Parliament. Egypts Muslims will always support the Muslims against aggression and aggressors unlike other so called Muslim states in the region. PM Ganzoury said yesterday We approached the West and the Arab states to help us with our problems, but they did not meet their promises, said. Well therefore have to work on what we have" We all know the price was too high for Egypt to pay and I am glad. We never expected anything anyway so it is better to owe the Gulf Arabs nothing and the US nothing. We will not beg. The poor were always poor under Mubarak so wont find much difference living day to day. The thieves will have fled. What we need is to work hard the rest of us to build ourselves up again with no help from anyone. No bribes. A new Egypt not built on bribery and corruption. A new Egypt that will hurt for many years but will eventually heal and remember her 'real' friends. Welcome Mos Bros to the parliament, the first in our history with no dictator. Democracy chose you. They gave you their votes. The first ever free election in our history. Don't let us down.
