I passed through there only one time and was never outside of the airport. I studied the Ottoman Empire and I look at it's location and history as a powerhouse. I like their attitude in the region and their culture is magnificent. I would very much love to travel there someday. I see them as a hub and central force in the future of the world. I envy their status in the world at this moment.
It is hard to find another country with such potential. I only hope that the governments of the world see what I do and do not let that nation be taken for granted. I would far rather have them as a friend to the US than a foe. I wish the issue with the Kurds would go away. That I know has been a major difficulty for a long long time.
I would only hope that the EU recognizes them and helps them over the Kurd barrier.

I'm doing great, TB. My wife and I have decided to move out of the city and are going to look at a nice little house in the country tonight.

How are things going with you? Are exams going OK?

      Merhaba, Nasilsin Brat,

I know where you took that photo of Turkish soldiers parachuting. Is is that army base off the highway before you get into Ankara from Istanbul on O-4?

      I'm guessing

Sorry to hear that. Maybe too much staring at a computer screen makes it worse?

Well then we must be of the same political beliefs. I am a 57 year old lesbian university professor retired due to heath. My field was morden revolutionary movement in the US post 1950. I taught at the Graduate level. I have been with my wife for 36 years. I live in Chicago but am from NY. How is that? I am considred by most to be a Utopian Socialist. I belong to a socialist group of about 150. It is a diverse group. There you have it.

I'm fine, thanks - how are you, TB?

I saw your thread about Israel and thought I would try to clarify your point for ryefield. I remember the first time you pointed that out to me - I must admit I found it somewhat amusing how the Arabs helped make the bed they're sleeping in.

Your Prime Minister is on TV now talking about letting US troops withdraw from Iraq via Turkey. Don't do it - make them take the long way around!
