Whilst it is certainly good news for President Obama,s administration who will make the most of it. One wonders how many of those jobs are part time or temporary jobs on basic minimum wage.

Joe, you continually tell the same old tale of how the right wants the economy to fail. Any attempt on our part to shed light on what the unemployment numbers mean somehow swirls around in your head and becomes proof that we hate abundance in any form. Sad.

The simple thing I don't understand is how we have the fewest people working since the '80s but unemployment numbers are going down? In 1980 we had 226,545,805 people and now we have more than 308,745,000. In 1983 we had an unemployment rate of 9.7% and now we have it at 8.3%? I'm thinking we have a math problem. I hope you don't take my questioning the math as me hoping our economy fails.

How are the statistics any different from the statistics under Bush? You have to compare apples to apples. You can't adjust Bush's numbers one way and Obama's numbers another way.

Yeah, Mitt Romney is a "discouraged worker" he is unemployed and making $20 million a year and only paying 15%/yr in taxes.

Spin it any way you want. The fact of the matter is the statistics good or bad are tallied the same way from administration to administration.

 

Why encourage the incompetent? His Ivy-league economic team has fled back to their ivory tower, yet he continues to whine at congress rather than encourage businesses to hire new workers. He has to be fired before the nation can move forward. I'm encouraging the American voters to vote for change in November. What progressive is against change?

From your pundits, to your politicians to the useful idiots who parrot everything they are told, all of them have jumped on any chance to denigrate any achievement by Obama.
The economy is improving? Lies, you say.
Obama gets bin Laden? You all fall over yourselves whining about the legality of the summary justice meted out. Naturally, if it had been Bush who did it, you would have built a shrine to the man.
Relations improving with other countries? Look at that boy Obama scrape and bow you all bleat!
DADT repealed? Obama is destroying the military by letting queers serve openly.

Of course no American dared post --- they hate an Englishman reminding them how culpable they are in all respects for the present financial chaos and its consequences .

I thought this thread was about the unemployment numbers but your diatribe indicates you must have missed that point. How about we get on topic. Returning to the numbers I find it difficult to understand how we have as many people working as we did in 1983 and it was 9.7% and now with a huge population growth we only have 8.3%. It doesn't figure. Can you give me any help with this?

 

The calculation of the unemployment rate has changed. The ideal measurement of unemployment, from my perspective, is the U-6 unemployment rate. It is the closest to the way we calculated unemployment during the Great Depression.

 

Romney admitted the economy is getting better in a recent interview. Good luck using the economy against Obama. Obama will just point to McCain say the economy was fine a few years ago, when it so obviously wasn't. Then show Ronmey saying that the economy is getting better.

Conservatives are the undisputed kings of shooting themselvs in the foot.

 

Its a false positive, as Barry himself acknowledege when he announced the numbers. The economy is vulnerable, and so is Hussein, and all other dems. Barry is one term un-wonder.

 

I'm not even a democrat and I can see how much trouble conservatives are in.
