Yeah. I know what its like to have my entire unit confined to base and threatened to be thrown out of a MEU for Battalion wide misconduct.

Funniest thing I ever saw was heading to aft Diesel room to take a reading on one of our Cathodic Protections Annodes. The compartment right before it was Marine berthing with another berthing right below it. As I was walking through, the lower berthing came up and started attacking the upper berthing with the groups Senior NCo's watching the fight. When they saw me, they told everyone to "Make a hole for the Blue!" and they cleared a path for me, wrestling and punching each other the whole time. It was hilarious. Their Gunny said the guys needed to let off some steam from being underway for like 4 weeks straight. Controlled Chaos I guess. Losing group had to clean the other berthings areas for a day. I do miss that LPD.

I could give a (*)(*)(*)(*) less about people in the military. They are no more important than anyone else.

If they fancy the nazi's that is on them.

Its nice that you live an a country where you can say such nonsense and get away with it. I suppose the sheer existence of the military ensures that right. Enjoy it!

Yeah, I have run laps on the flight decks of two different Aircraft Carriers. I have thrown footballs around on them also. Never wasted a catapult shot on a football, but did watch a couple ton test weight get launched off of one. Oh, don't believe th one about a McD's on carriers, that is not true...it is just a sliders line...but Navy Burgers are terrible. Oh, and all of my spaces are about 65 degrees because I work on electronics gear....lol

Funny. I was in the Marines for 8 years (infantry) before I went to college and transfered over to the Army (4 years) in a different MOS. I see it quite the opposit as you! The Army gets Bagdad while the Marines get Al Anbar. In afghanistan the non special forces soldiers are little more than a glorified fire watch. Oh, how I missed the Marines. I had never slept so good, eaten so well, nor enjoyed as much luxuary as I did in the Army. In the Marines, however, I was moarterd 3 times a day, ate cold food, craped in diesel fuel, and was engaged in 5 day firefights while the Army came out of luxuary and guarded our tiny firm base for us.

Hey, do not mark all Liberals with that brush...This Proud Liberal served for 15 years. However, if he does not care about the military it is his right not to care. Most military actually do not care what civilians think...the only opinion that matters is our fellow vets and military brothers and sisters.

Must be nice to have 65 degree working temps lol. 12 hour foot patrols everyday in 115 degree temps overseas...yeah.. When Im stateside im a gunner on Abrams tanks. And contrary to movies those things are about as big inside as below the bathroom sink. And the "A/C" is connected to the computers, not for you. And the "heater" goes from the ability to literally cook raviolis with or broken lol. 9 times out of 10 its broken.
And since they are pretty much all metal they absorb whatevers outside and then some. Go to the desert in one and you will literally be riding in it in your underwear, and still pass out from dehydration. Go to a winter place and well the tank wont start because it hates the cold, and the inside will literally make your skin get stuck to it. And youll bang your frozen appendages on everything because it was designed to be operated by the keebler elfs. Then the thing will just break down, the tracks will just come off and youll get out in the 5 degree snow and have to fix 20 ton tracks. Then you will cuss and scream and yell at your privates and wonder why the hell you didn't do something smart, like join the Navy...haha

lol...I hear you...after 13 years in the Navy I had to get out because of a medical issue and joined the NC Army National Guard as a 88m (Specifically HETs). Of course, I finished HET school and the MRLS unit found out I was in electronics in the Navy and had a secret clearaence while in. They had my wife and I transfer over to that unit and I went to 27M school (MRLS Repair). I was amazed how these things had an AC unit (the HETs) but the Army had them taken out on purpose! Two years was enough for me...I had the VA do some corrective surgery so I could go back to Active Duty and it did not work. SO I am going to NC State now. Woooo!...College. Oh...Go Wolfpack!

Hell that sounds like my last deployment, I don't know which Army unit you were in lol.

But see you Marines have these huge conflicts in war because well you just go looking to stir up stuff lol. I still remember this comic strip that I saw years ago that pretty much summed it up. I don't remember it exactly but it was something like this.

Marines and Army squad sized element on patrol during a war and gets contact with a company sized enemy element. Whats the reaction?

Army: Dig in, call in the armor and send up coordinates to the artillery batteries, QRF will be here in 10.
    Marines: ATTACK!!
Army: We have heavy armor on the way guys, QRF is en route give em 10
    Marines: Screw that, ATTACK!!!
Army: We are outnumbered at least 5 to 1...wait for support
    Marines: Sissies! ATTACK!!!
Air Force: We've got CAS on standby, A-10s on air patrol give us a grid
Marines: We don't need you!, ATTACK!!!
Navy: What the hell is a "war"?
Coast Guard: It's when you save the dolphin caught in the fishing net stupid.

    haha all in fun bro

Reminds me of a Doonsbury cartoon I saw during Desert Storm.

It had a bunch of Army guys in the desert and their first sergeant was reading them a ltter from his wife. "..and this is nothing like Vietnam dear. Everyone here at home is fully supportive of the Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors."

One of his guys looks up and says "Sailors?'

next panel shows a few sailors on a ship. One of them says..."Hey, can you go get me soda from the vending machine..and turn down the air in here...it is too cold."

The existence of the military ensures nothing. If you think a military ensures your rights you have already lost the real war.

Nothing's scarier to the enemy than a squad on line bounding towards you. Even when we were escorting CAG or PRT teams our SOP was still "Find it, Fix it, Flank it, F*** it"......not suppress, push through, and come back two hours later with a company of tanks like you doggies. :)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniforms_and_insignia_of_the_Schutzstaffel You are mistaken. The 'SS' collar tab was worn by all ranks from Obersturmbannfuhrer down to basic rifleman-mann schutze-in SS units.

I only have have one beef with the Marine Corps.

They played little to no role in fighting in the European theater in WWII, and it's an insult to those who did to choose a unit flag that bears even a passing resemblance to SS bolts...it wasn't their fight against the Nazis.

The Navy/Marines/(and Army) in the Pacific were holding off the Japanese so that resources could be funneled into the European theater. That's a pretty big contribution in my mind. Either way, your entire notion here is a bit ridiculous.

Airman posed in this photo...they were chastised for it...and rightly so.

Yet the Marines still have the same excuse...
"you have no idea how tough it is out there fighting in the mud...they're just letting off steam"

The FACT is, the Marine Corps have little to no historical correlation with the European theater during WWII...now those guys in the photo can claim "ignorance" of the SS bolts and that they were using a differnt "font"...or whatever other excuse they have...and their fellow Marines will defend them...but they make all the services look like a bunch of idiots posing like that and having the photo leaked in this era of social media...

Same applies to those Airman. Be careful about the photos you choose to pose with because invariably they will get on the internet and be easily misinterpreted.

Yes it's tough out there fighting in the mud, but the Marines were not there against the Third Reich, yet use a blatantly similar theme in their unit flag.

Defend them all you want, I do not agree..and I'm not calling for even an Article 15 against them...just change the flag, and be more careful the next time you pose for a photo...
This is the era of social media, and the World is a big fish bowl now.

What is it with Liberals/America Haters these days?

With thousands of American troops serving and dying around the world, how is it Democrats manage to focus on the inaproppriate actions of a few, rather than the outstanding many?

Why is it Liberals, like Agent, have never created a thread praising the actions of our military.......and instead shat all over our troops on a daily basis? The same troops that keep his chickenhawk ass safe, so he can continue smearing said troops......
