Winning 6 of the 10 states in super duper Tuesday sort of finalizes the deal for the Republicans. Now can we concentrate on bringing the Republican party together in unison behind Romney so as to smoke out the socialist obama. Someone posted a query as to who should drop out after last night's elections. I say paul, newt and santorum should all consider dropping out so as to have the republican party coalesce around the man that can beat obama head to head.

I can see Newt giving it the heave-ho, but I doubt Santorum or Paul will be dropping out anytime soon.

Santorum probably still believes he has a real shot at it, or at least the VP Nod. So he'll stay in for at least a little while longer.

Ron Paul was never in it to win, and he knew he never had a shot. Had that been the case, he would have dropped out long ago - back when it became obvious that he's unelectable.

The only real question is whether or not these 3 guys will circle the wagons around, and support, Romney in the general election. If they DO, the GOP may win the election. If the DON'T, we WILL have another 4 years of President Obama.

Newt by his TONE would send the far left and left leaning people right back to the President..some of those folks will accept Romney more.

The RIGHT will not be the issue..sooner or later the far right needs to get over the idea that Newt and Santorum can win independent votes..
    they wont.

I agree about the "effect" of Newt destroying Obama in a debate. But make no mistake about it... Newt would absolutely, completely and totally DESTROY Obama in a debate about anything, anywhere, anytime.

Romney now needs...no has to change/alter his tactics. First start ignoring all the other candidates and concentrate only on Obama and the economy. Second he should shadow Obama. Wherever Obama goes is where Romney should also go...the same cities on the same day. No, he won't draw as many people at first, but it will slowly build if he simply acts like he is the candidate. Let the others squable while he moves forward.

His main obstacle will be funding. Where he doesn't even have a hundred million to spend at this time, Obama has a billion. He needs to see that he won with ads...money, and Obama has more. So he needs to pound day after day on the economy, Fast and Furious, Solendra and on and on. Play to the people, not the media. become a bit more bold (like Gingrich) and don't let them change his message. He can be a winner, but he has to act like a winner, not a challenger.

    That is probably correct.

I would vote for Romney before Obama, but I still voted for Newt (like I did before the redistricting).

When push comes to shove it will be Congress that gets stuff done, and anyone who remembers Newt on C-span speaking to an empty room back before he was speaker knows he could have rallied the conservatives more. If we do not get the Congress who would hold the line better against the Fabian or Third Way Socialist Turtle creeping, Romney or Newt? I think Newt.

I will enjoy watching Obama beat Romney. The so-called conservatives need to learn their lesson for not electing Ron Paul.

Romney can't defeat PrezBO in the general election. They're too much alike.

But if Romney were to win, How would that be any different than Obama winning? What would change?

I'm voting for whomever gets the nom. But, I do NOT support Santorum. His focus is on social issues, which is a matter for the govt to stay OUT of. It's all about spending, jobs, and regulations. Period.

Yes it is, and obama has failed by spending America in to unsustainable debt, and he's risen the unemployment bar upwards toward FDR proportions, and he continues to regulate our economy into the dumpster. Romney will cut out wasteful spending starting with the appeal of obamacare, and he will create thousands of jobs with his 57 page itinerary, and he will limit if not cut to the core any and all strangling regulations.

The only way Romney will be able to win against Obama is as follows:

    1. If he can create a more effective and substantial war chest.
    2. If he can focus on the economy, and only the economy. This means no delving into issues such as abortion, birth control, religion, etc., unless it pertains to economic issues such as the deficit and debt, in which case he must always portray it from an economic perspective.
    3. If he can be bold, and attack the President not just with baseless talking points, but with cold hard facts and statistics that discredit Obama's economic record. He will not be able to convince most Americans that the President's foreign policy record is questionable.
