There's a lot of perfectly honorable people who've run into financial trouble lately. Seriously? You've never heard or known someone who lost their job and couldn't find another that would pay all the debt they'd accumulated? In this kind of economy, that's pretty common. It doesn't make them bad people.

Yet another leftist effort to alleviate, or altogether remove consequences for one's actions....to "socialize" the onerous results of individual irresponsibility.

If you build it, they will come. and come. and come.

Why should it be any business of yours what the business earns? If you have the right to privacy, does not the business owner?

As an employer, I wouldn't bother with a credit check, or even a criminal background check. I will check references and thoroughly interview the person.

However, if they work with certain clients of mine who do heavy processing of credit cards and keep those records on file, I need to know if the employee is likely to cause problems. It's not just a security issue for my clients, it's a major liability issue.

How would you propose that business owners protect their assets and clients? Perhaps you might suggest that a new bureaucracy of hiring be built which manages all hiring for all companies. After all, government can do it better, right?

It's true, and, in fact, many people who own businesses are in the same boat and are quite capable of being discerning when it comes to deciding if a bad credit report means hard times or a long history of poor financial decisions. However, discretion is not a skill that progressives employ or understand. All thinking must be regulated by law.

I dislike Trump greatly, that still does not change anything.

I work in an industry that deals with secrets... government secrets. I need to run credit histories. With this in place we will only hire contractors without benefits... way to go Jerry Brown.

Better though... buying a house in Green Valley, NV to get the business out of this state. Say goodbye to just under 20 high paying jobs and the tax revenue that goes with it Gov. Moon Beam... idiot.

Perhaps this is another strategy for 'spreading the wealth'. You can't protect yourself from dishonest renters, dishonest employees, dishonest people in general. It looks designed to ruin business from the inside.

Does anyone still have a 'good credit report' in this country? At least those amongst the long term unemployed? Those that desperately need jobs? A know of quite a few people that; two years ago had triple 'A' credit, that couldn't finance a $5 loan without a $10 down payment.

Why should the state tell an employer what qualifications they may use in hiring? Sounds like overreaching government to me.

Yep, until there's no wealth left. When everyone is living in a cave, or dead, we'll all be equal!

If you owned a business you would know that you hire "at will" and can fire them "at will". It is rarely done, unless extreme circumstances have taken place, e.g., theft. The two weeks is general professional courtesy.

Theft occurs at every level in a company, some small, some large, but it happens, in some manner.
