My View: What Bill Maher Really IS

I think that Maher is an extreme left-wing satirist who often crosses the line into overly extreme territory. I also think he's sometimes funny.

I think that Rush Limbaugh is an extreme right-wing satirist who often crosses the line into overly extreme territory. I also think he's sometimes funny.

I listen to them both from time to time. I take neither of them seriously. Neither should you.

 

Maher is every bit the bigot that he rails against in his pot laced tirades. He picks on the handicapped, children and women in the most vile and disgusting of terms. He clearly gets off on hate.

 

The most amazing thing about America is we have the ability to change the channel.

Maher is many things. One thing he is not is nice.

But he is hysterical.

 

i prefer the colbert report and the daily show. actually those are the only shows i watch.

 

Where do you get your hard news? The internet perhaps?
I do, mostly. The traditional networks are a sick joke, and TV news is always behind reporting stuff.

I seem to remember Maher being funny at one time. I haven't watched him since Politically Incorrect, but saw the road he was on then, and it was the road to not funny.

Hey, how about Dennis Miller? He's pretty much the flip side of the same coin. He used to be funny, too.

It sounded more like anger to me, which seems to be part of being a liberal anymore. A very conservative friend of mine mentioned the gym he goes to should show FOX and ended up with some lib woman following him through the gym screaming at him.

 

Maher is a jackass. The type of guy that no one likes so he has to make jokes to get attention.

Nonsense. He spoon feeds crap the incredibly stupid. I have watched Maher but I don't watch Maher. And I won't. I don't find comments about retarded (*)(*)(*)(*)s particularly funny. I know for the more intellectual liberals it's a real knee-slapper and they almost fall out of the Birkenstocks but, really, mean isn't the new funny.

All political satirists are comedians, but not all comedians are political satrists. So yes, he's both.

 

hmm i thought maher was calling her a political slut, which isn't at all the same as a literal slut, and saying stuff like there must be a long line of men waiting to have sex with her, that she's going broke she's having so much sex, he's willing to buy as much asprin georgetown women need to put between their legs etc. is on a whole nother level from maher. not that i think fluke should sue limbaugh, but to say that liberals must be 'consistent' in this case in order to justify bashing limbaugh is nonsense.

 

I don't recall the word "heroes" being used. I remember the comment on Politically Incorrect that got him fired was that he said that the terrorists did have some physical courage to fly those planes directly into buildings and that we were the cowards for firing cruise missiles at them from thousands of miles away.

Considering that it was just a few weeks after 9/11 you can see why that would inflame people, but it was conservatives, not liberals, who stood up for his free speech rights.

I think that's why, even though he will call Palin a c--t, he soft pedaled the Rush comment. He had been were Rush was at.

 

I am sure he does not care what you think. Except perhaps to observe that coming from a Jew and a Catholic he had plenty of incentive to become an atheist.

Speaking of Limousine Liberals! The complaint shouldn't be against "wealthy" or "rich" people because most of them are hard-working and productive. The complaint should be against the landed and professional politician classes like these guys and Albert Gore who are nothing more than parasites who feed over and over again at the public trough!

Political cartoons are also a form of attack.........That is what political satire is for.....attacking politics and politicians in order to bring their flaws to the public's knowledge. Most political satireist, on both sides of the political spectrum are like that.
