No because earlier this week Romney said basically the same thing. Same context. The biggest mistake of Campaign 2012 is the GOP nominating Willard.

Thanks Mike. It should be spoken about each day. My family speak about it often. My wife and I both were raised in family businesses. My two brothers own their businesses, two sisters do as well, and another sister has a side business as musicians who play and teach Old Time music. My grandfather had a wholesale grocery distribution company that he should have sold to Kroger back when old man Kroger first started up. Actually, Kroger wanted him to jump in to business with him but my gramps just wanted out of the business due to problems with his brother. He sold off inventory and retired at 55 and did crosswords for the next 30 years at the same desk I write this from now.

One reason we are business people is because there is more freedom found there than elsewhere. Working for someone else can often times be limiting. Being your own boss has advantages, but with that comes loads of responsibility. That doesn't seem to be a concern in my family. The biggest reason to be self employed is to have a running chance at creating a dream.

The chance alone is worth the effort. You hear the tales of eating beans and potatoes and eggs or going without because the dream is more important. Leveraging your house and land because you believe in something so deeply that the risk doesn't seem that high, it goes along with the territory. But in almost every successful enterprise, in the eye of the one who took the chance, you will see a spark fire up at the mention of the good old days when they had nothing but an idea and not even hell's horses could hold them back from doing what they knew they had to do. In fact, I've heard say that they wish they no longer had the comfort of their success because it holds them back from starting anew.

It is interesting the way older entrepreneurs talk about it. They don't have the years ahead of them to see an upstart through and the gains they have made would be better used as inheritance. Still, the spark is there. You can never take that away from an entrepreneur. And the right of property means so much to one who has worked so much to acquire it.

For Obama to step up and claim that others deserve the gains made by those who placed themselves and their families at risk is a spit in the eye. He attempts to diminish the importance of property at every turn. I dare say that he is clearly in the business of the redistribution of property rights because his arguments stem from his belief that those who do not have property in the proportions he deems fair should be given more rights to property than those who actually own it.

It is very interesting to read about your family and their business. One more thing I would like to add is this.

My father has been in manufacturing for over 55 years. He still works today. He has said many times over the past 4-5 years that it is harder to do business today than in any other time he can remember.

    Due mostly to...
    OSHA
    State DEP
    EPA
    Department of Labor
    Unemployment
    rising taxes

I bet it would amaze people who are not in business to actually see how many inspectors, reports, paper work, files kept, etc. that goes on just to deal with state and local governments, not to even include all the federal BS.

If the small business's taxes were used to build roads, bridges and provide fire protection for the whole town what does the government do with those taxes?
So you really believe that small businesses pay less in taxes than the cost of these services that they use? Most of the liberal horde pays no taxes but they use those roads to get to the store to use their food stamps, they call the police to make their boy friend stop beating them, they use the power grid to get free electricity.

They pay way more than you do for the services that you and BH Obama pretend that they are using for free. My small business paid a ton of income taxes, we paid excises taxes, it costs us money to collect sales taxes but the liberal horde thinks that small businesses should pay more.

The 3% of the small business that BH Obama admits will have their taxes raised hire 40% of American workers. Most of the other 97% of small businesses fail or hire a hand full of low wage workers. It is the successful business that BHO wants to tax and those business will have to let people go, costing the economy thousands of jobs.

And "We the people" build the roads and other infrastructure that make starting and operating a business possible. No one is denigrating the hard work that makes a successful business possible but without the things we all pay for running a successful business would be impossible.

Good grief, business exists without governments. Before roads Americans actually survived. Traders didn't even need a trail. It was their own hard work that paved their way. It was their horse and feed. Same holds true today. We buy our own roads to pave our own way. You tend to degrade the ingenuity of individual human potential and hold up high everything else. Without the ingenuity that builds businesses there would be no roads.

If only he had added the phrase "by yourself". This concept you mention is very obvious to everyone, but because he didn't say "by yourself" the whole quote will be ripped from its context and spun into something very different.
