When black people keep getting killed in black neighborhoods, do we assume it is a serial killer hate crime? Or... do we assume that it is a member of that group who lives in that group?

They are not liberals. There are no bleeding hearts as chief of police. This is patently untrue.

Frankly, no because that happens often and is almost exclusively black-on-black. I don't really understand the faux outrage here, despite what you might think about NYC, crimes like this are especially rare. So, it would make sense that upon determining a common characteristic of the victims, to call it racially motivated. I personally don't believe in the word "hate crime" because all crimes are hate crimes regardless of the internal reasoning of the perpetrator. Also, Muslims and Mosques have been targeted recently in Queens, so this is continuing a disjointed pattern.

    I disagree.

They are politicians who exist in a liberal bubble and they tow the liberal line.

In order for the assumption of a serial killer to be brought up, the same MO has to exist...

So "upon determining a common characteristic of the victims" in black on white mob attacks, it would "make sense to call it racially motivated"? Oh wait, that's different, right?

Sure, I have no issue with that if it's what the evidence points to in a particular case. You're still skating around the issue at hand though, it seems like these killings are racially motivated. That's not bias, it's called police-work.

Duh, I live here. Clearly you've never met a member of the NYPD, they're not exactly a "bleeding-heart" bunch.

Not all libs are bleeding hearts.

Witness the KGB who were a pretty heartless bunch of thugs.

Besides rank and file policemen who are not bucking for police chief are usually law and order types rather than bleeding heart liberals.

They are often not in step with the libs who run the show.

I'm not the one skating around the issue at hand, you are. The main point of the OP is that hate crime investigators are being brought in, despite the lack of any racial motive being known at the scene of the crime.

    So...

    I am a Korean grocer.
All of my friends and relations are Korean businessmen.
    My friends start getting killed...

I am to assume that it is someone from outside of our community, doing so because they hate Koreans?

My first thought is, which member of our community is killing my friends...

By MO, I mean, the same circumstances surrounding the killings...

i.e., same murder weapon, arrangement of bodies, etc...

In this case, all the victims are Middle Eastern, all apparently killed with the same weapon, all had merchandise from their stores dumped on them...

Stuff like that, same MO in all cases, would indicate a serial killer...

I suspect that, like I said before, the hate crime investigators are being brought in to examine the possiblity of a hate crime due to the fact that all of the victims are Middle Eastern, coupled with the current animosity that exists among some toward Middle Eastern people...

Now, on that note, the fact that all of the victims are Middle Eastern doesn't automatically indicate a hate crime, as a good portion of serial killers prefer a specific type of victim, often choosing by race, gender, profession, etc...

You'll have to excuse him. He'll call anything liberal that he doesn't like.

Are hate crime investigators brought in whenever they investigate a black on white mob attack?

It is not an issue of whether or not it is a serial killer... it is the presumption that the motive is race based.

I would assume that it is someone that does business with all of them with some other sort of grudge. This would be my first thought... what religion are they? I am not saying it is not a racist serial killer... it is just not the first thing that makes sense to me, and assigning a task force assuming this motive is... just weird to me at first blush.

    I don't know...

It probably depends on the circumstances...

As I also said earlier, the likely reason you're hearing about it in this case is that, due to the apparent presence of a serial killer, the case and it's details are more likely to be publicized...

I'm no expert but if someone is murdered the person who commited the crime is likely to have hated them, even in the senario they are their own brother. Is there any murdered commited that is not a hate crime?

I didn't say I agreed with hate crime legislation. I was just explaining how it works and why it was established.

50 years ago, it made sense.

Nowadays, I think we can get rid of the laws.

For libs this will be treated as a hate crime until proven otherwise.

But if the victims were white the same libs would be throwing up roadblocks to calling it a hate crime.

That's where the discussion was going, so, I gave a specific answer...

I'm not seeing that it's being automatically assumed that the killings are race based, just that there are detectives who specialize in hate crimes working the case...

I'd be willing to bet that, in the case of a serial killer, the involved PD would attempt to cover all bases, if for no other reason, to avoid missing any key indicators that may lead them to their suspect...

I haven't seen anyone in this thread say that these are definitively hate crimes...
