New Gallop poll shows of all TV news sources FOX leads the pack.

    ckz5gxwdak-tygsoyyf3dq.jpg

Problem for conservatives is, although FOX garnered 1st place with 8%, 16% of those who get their news from TV use other sources and the vast majority of those other sources are rather left leaning. So, considering that, is it any wonder conservatives have such hard time getting their views heard, much less honestly reported.

I get a very different meaning from that poll. That only a small percentage of TV viewers only get news from one specific TV network. In other words very few people are diehards to one network, and those that are tend to watch FOX.

Maybe I am reading that study wrong, it is kind of small on my screen.

Correct, but when one attempts to explain that simple fact they get all bent out of shape, go figure.

Well, if you don't watch fox news, you might not have heard of bengazi-gate, IRS targeting of conservative groups, high unemployment of youths and blacks, government spying on your phone calls, drones killing americans, Solyndra, etc.. etc...

However, if you did watch other cable news, you might have heard about how a innocent black boy got killed by an racist white person.

I don't see this as particularly conclusive.

And it certainly doesn't support the claim that Fox "leads the pack". In this survey, it only leads CNN by one point.

The more telling statistic is the one for television news in general, at 26%, which is three times Fox's number.

I don't know if this assumption was tested in this survey, but I've found that most of the Fox Noise people I know, only get their information from that one source. Which explains why so many of them believe things that are totally false and are woefully uninformed about other things. And this includes people who are very smart and capable in general.

It's hard for me to know for sure, as I don't rely on television as a primary source of information. Television was always a poor source for news. Great for moving pictures, but little else.

I love how the cult Fox News viewers blame the rest of media as being left leaning because they aren't extremist right wing whack jobs. If you don't hate on Obama 24 hours a day you are liberal media.

However, if Fox Noise is your news source, you might believe that Bengazigate is real, dispite the total lack of evidence, everyone would have heard about the IRS, as Fox didn't break the story (Fox is not in the news business,so it almost never breaks stories), but you would believe that this targeting was a cospiracy run at the very top of the Obama adminstration (dispite the total lack of evidence), and you wouldn't know a thing about the way GOP operatives coached the tea party groups they were setting up to flood the IRS with 501c4 applications. You would have heard about high unemployement amongst blacks and youth and the NSA, as Fox didn't break or take the lead in either of those stories either.

But if you watched Fox Noise, you would believe that a monstorous thug attacked Barney Fife, and Barney is a hero because he used his one bullet!

CNN covered all those things, they just don't base a whole TV hour every hour about them.

You are correct. If you look at even more data from the poll you will see that CNN viewers are more balanced in their political views. 57% approve of the job that Obama is doing but 40% disapprove. If you look at the "Fair and Balanced" Fox news viewers 97% disapprove of the job the president is doing. Fox News is an entertainment channel for right wing extremists. It is not a news service. It is a right wing cheer leading club.

I've heard of all those news stories, and I never watch Fox News. I get my news from many news sources and then form my own opinion. However, I don't view Fox News as a valid news source.

Can you give an example of the half truths CNN tells? I haven't heard this argument before.

    That is absolutely correct.

Fox has the weakest reporting in the industry. It has virtually no foreign correspondents, and a lot of its new staff in New York are hired cheap interns with little experience.

Fox does very little actual journalism, and virtually no investigative reporting.

Fox viewers routinely rank at the very bottom of surveys that seek to learn how well informed people are.

And they are very frequently fervently believing things that are completely false.

Fox is in the conservative public relations business.

A great case in point was the selling of the Benghazi "whistleblower" hearings.

All the witnesses had already testified before, and none of them had anything new to add.

Yet days before, Fox News floated an entirely fictional story about how the "whistleblowers" attorney were being denied access to classified State department documents.

As it turned out, the "attorney" in question was a Fox contributor (who was getting paid to spread this lie). And she had never requested any documents from State, classified or otherwise. Yet the lie, once planted on Fox Noise Sunday, spread like a stain across the right wing blogs.

The objective was to get the blogs talking about Issa's hearings and build an audience for it. By the time the hearings started, the lawyer's lie was completely forgotten. They're at it again right now, actually.

Fox paid Romney campaign staffers to shill for thier candidate on the air without disclosing their affiliations, something Fox does quite a lot.

When you see some talking heads on Fox Noise working a theme, it's alway helpful to Google them,so you know who the really work for and who is paying them to bray.

That's all Fox is, talk radio with pictures. And paid for pseudo content.

Lets let the zimmerman trial tell us who is telling lies and who isnt....

If zimmerman gets crucified, MSNBC and CNN were telling the truth.

If zimmerman goes free cause he defended himself, then Foxnews was telling the truth.

Fox is 8%, CNN is 7%, so I'd say the diehards are split equally on that account.

How is it, when the Republicans don't like something, or the POTUS, we are being radical? Republicans didn't want Obama, and that view is captured in this poll. However, what I find interesting is that 40% of Liberals don't believe that Obama is doing his job. And your opinion is calling that fair and balanced? If liberals find sitting on the fence, fair and balanced, then I would guess that is why nothing gets done, because Liberals lack the courage of their convictions.

And what would that show? I have not watched Fox Noise's coverage of the Zimmerman trial.

I turn off the MSNBC coverage after about three minutes, if I watch it at all.

You forgot the word allegedly. I didnt see his trial covered by Fox or CNN. I guess we just have to trust what the government says about him.

This may come as a shock to you but there are many of us in this country who are educated, employeed, and exceedingly busy and have never had any interest in trying a man in the court of public opinion or basing our entire world view on the decision of 6 uneducated people in Florida. I tell you what I do when the good people at CNN, MSNBC, CBS, etc decide it's wet my pants over Zimmerman time... I change the channel. Please return to one of the 50 million Zimmerman threads on this forum.

What that poll captures is the "Fair and Balanced" network only attracts one type of political ideology. It is an entertainment channel for them. There is nothing wrong with that. Just don't say it is anywhere as unbiased as CNN.

Nope, Im talking about msnbc and cnn telling the American people lies to forward their political ideology of American destruction.

Once zimmerman is cleared, MSNBC will be out of the lie telling business, cause hes gonna sue the crap outta them for altering tapes, and spewing hate regardless of the evidence.

When I read your post orginally I thought that 7 was a 4. But it does appear to be a 7, so yes I would agree to some degree with your statement. I watch CNN mostly because it tends to be unbiased IMHO. MSNBC is a cheering zone just as much as FOX. That being said I do find Erin Burnett on CNN to be pretty conservative and Piers Morgan to be a loudmouth. I do like The Ed show in MSNBC (and Karen Finney before him... she is curvy and smoking hot) but I know what I am getting watch Ed... a cheering zone.

However for true news CNN seems to be the best. I was scrolling through all the channels after that plane crash in SFO, they were all pretty much showing the same footage. But I thought CNN did the best at explaining it.

There isn't a network on TV that hasn't had an "expert" come on and rendered an opinion that contradicts the opinion of six uneducated nonlawyers. If that is your standard you need to turn off your TV and never watch TV news again.
