Obama and Reid are holding the nation hostage to protect their beloved Obamacare from losing funding. The House has every right to withhold funding. They were sent to congress to stop Obama's madness. The Dems lost the House after they passed Obamacare.

We still have the Senate and the White House.
The GOP still lacks a clue.

The GOP knows what the Constitution empowers them to do.

    Having trouble understanding Obama's views?

Maybe if you shared his perspective, you'd have a better grasp of it:

Strange that both Houses passed the bill and the President signed it into law. Could be that slipped your memory, together with the fact that Obama is there for a second term and with just over three years to go before another Presidential election, there isn't a GOP contender in sight.

Incidentally, who is the leader of the GOP this week?

After several backdoor deals to get all their people on board, without negotiation with the Republicans, and with a super majority, how many seats were lost in the midterms by democrats in the house after that? Oh and let's not forget that it still had to be rewritten after passing by the SCOTUS before it could be flimsily signed into law. So the Republicans are blamed for doing what they were elected to do. Meanwhile Obama grandstands and "closes" the memorials. How childish can you be?

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: McDonald’s Employee Admits Being Paid $15 to Protest WW2 Veterans

Yesterday I reported from the National World War Two Memorial on several members of Congress crashing the barricades set up by the National Park Service that were keeping out several hundred Honor Flight veterans — many of whom were WW2 veterans — from visiting their own memorial. The Park Service claimed that the memorial and the entire National Mall area had to be closed because of the government shutdown.

The same scene was reenacted again today as two Honor Flights from Missouri and Chicago arrived in prearranged visits. These Honor Flights were met by hundreds of ordinary citizens and about a dozen members of Congress, who once again crashed the barricades to let the veterans into the WW2 Memorial.

After about an hour, about 20 protesters arrived on the scene chanting “Boehner, get us back to work” and claiming they were federal employees furloughed because of the shutdown.

In the video below these protesters were marching towards the press gaggle and I was asking them to show their federal IDs to prove they were in fact federal workers. No one wore their federal ID and none would provide it to prove their claim.

Then, remarkably, a guy carrying a sign passed by wearing a McDonald’s employee shirt, which I noted. I then began asking them how much they had been paid to protest, at which point the guy wearing the McDonald’s shirt came back and admitted he had been paid $15.

About a minute later a protest organizer ran up to me telling me that the man in question is a contractor working at the McDonald’s in a Smithsonian Museum — a claim she made no effort to prove. The same story was told to Jake Tapper at CNN who was on the scene and made the same inquiry.

And yet that doesn’t explain why he was paid $15 to attend a protest targeting our nation’s honored military veterans.

UPDATE: Huffington Post reporter Arthur Delaney states that the protest was organized by a group called “Good Jobs Nation,” not SEIU as I previously reported, and that, remarkably, the protesters weren’t even federal employees at all but individuals who WORK in federal buildings affected by the shutdown.

Delaney and his HuffPo colleague Ryan J. Reilly have attacked me on Twitter, speculating on what the McDonald’s employee, Luis Chiliquinga, really thought, and chastising me for my editorial standards in reporting on what I recorded. The video speaks for itself.

As childish as closing America down and for all the Republican bleating, it's they who have done it and they know they have done it and they will pay for it in the long run and you know they will pay for it in the long run.

If 46m people are affected by this they aren't of Republican persuasion, I guess the GOP believes they are of no consequence, which they wouldn't be if they don't vote but if and when they do, your party is toast.

What's actually happening here is that the GOP have forced the shutdown, so that they can use it to slam the Dem's and Obama, giving them a perceived better chance at the next presidential election.

The reality is that this is the best chance they've got, as their candidates (as shown in the last election) are basically loons. From a fast food bloke, to a guy who strapped the family dog on the roof of his car, to people with out of touch views on abortion, companies being actuial people, and a guy who would let an American citizen die, because he "chose" not to have HC insurance, and on and on and on.

The proof of the pudding are the threads on this board, not discussing the shutdown and what to do, but slinging mud at Obama. If you throw enough, some will stick, right?

Being a foreigner I don't expect you to understand the goings on in America but the decision to shut down the government was Obama's.

The Repub House passed a bill that would fund the government (all except for Obamacare) and Obama and Reid rejected it.

Yup, and like the bunch of spoiled children that comprise the left, they are going to make the American people feel it when they don't get their way. White House...National Parks,,even when there is no need.

    Pathetic.

    We might have something here....

Maybe we should not fund the borders, seems we might have a chance of it being closed off? You got to admit, they are quick to throw up the yellow tape and barricades once funding dried up.

There are kids who are going hungry because of the Republican's shutdown.
There are senior citizens who don't know where their next meal is coming from.
There are retirees whose SS will be delayed.

And we're supposed to get upset over something like this.

    Wow, talk about skewed priorities.

If you want the landmarks reopened, then REOPEN THE ******NED GOVERNMENT!

    Clean CR bill, or nothing.

So let me get this straight. It's OK when the Republicans hold the nation hostage in order to get rid of something they hate, but it's not OK for the Democrats to withhold a very popular government service in order to embarass the Republicans? In what way is the behavior of the two groups any different? Extortion is extortion.
