Really people? lol @ the guy who says he's against Obamacare and then goes on to give it a big thumbs up when he thought he was referring to The Affordable Care Act rather than Obamacare!

    http://mashable.com/2013/10/01/obamacare-jimmy-kimmel/

This would much funnier if it weren't so sad. Thoughts?

The average American is an idiot and has no business opining or voting on how to run a local animal control office, let alone the federal government.

The sooner we accept this and institute changes to who we let vote, the better.

I saw a poll that showed if you explain the bill, but call it the "Affordable Care Act", and not "Obamacare"?

Support goes up 8%.....among REPUBLICANS. :)

Yeah I saw this ... hilarious ... in fact, Red States have called Obamacare as other names ... that is, selling Obamacare as another name ... Obama of course has no problem and is delighted.

    LOL.

True that. If there is a dumber country, on average, I've yet to find it.

Advertising works, you can create a brand image that has nothing to do with the product.
The right has spent billions on creating a negative image of ObamaCare.
But when someone polls the things that ObamaCare does, they get overwhelming approval.

OR, and bear with me here, the average American is stupid and doesn't understand (*)(*)(*)(*). Sort of like the idiots who loved Obama's proposals in 2008 , only it turns out they were being asked about McCain's proposals but the questioner framed them as Obama's and the people being questioned didn't know different.

LoL! And both sides probably think that the original 2009 ACA legislation is what they're going to get. And some still may even believe that all that pretty rhetoric spewed all over the media in the spring of 2009 has any relationship to the mudslide of incompetence and bureaucratic (*)(*)(*)(*) that's headed their way.

Branding as its become known reached its ZENITH...when this banner ..among others.... inspired a Nation of sheep to vote for a pig in a poke

Lending a FALSE personal appeal to a pile of garbage seems to have worked wonders for those backing the community organgrinder....

To set right the Improper branding of obummbercare allow me to offer this HONEST Alternative...

I live in a bright red state and the people here voted Romney. And they, in general, are so stupid I really think there is something in the water. Go figure.

So, it's come down to this question: what's in a name? For example, politics is a branch of philosophy, so what is the difference between "national socialist" and "secular humanist". In practice, the words mean the same thing. Well, I know that the Democrats reading this will spin like crazy over it, whereas Republicans are more likely wink and nod a "yup" about it, having been accused of so many things from racism to arson to terrorism to blackmail and extortion, understanding the accuser is guilty of the accusation, the Democrat's veil is getting thinner by the hour. What you have are Democrats who do not recognize Obama as a man, he's just a token symbol with catchy buzz words like "hope" and "change" for a caption. So they do not respect him, like you know how an image is worth a thousand words, so they try to speak all the thousand words of what the Obama's corporate logo means. Next thing you know, the man is out there giving a speech, and what he says is contradictory to what all the Democrats say he means. That is why he fails, he has no real leadership, he blames Republicans for all his problems, yet as President of the whole United States he represents the Republicans as much as the Democrats, and all that does is spark wave after wave of derision making it impossible to govern effectively. Meanwhile, all the demons are coming out, the true intentions of those who pushed through the so-called Obamacare law, their corruption and their will to use the ACA as a tool for selective persecution. One should expect very bad things to happen in such a political environment.

The irony of someone believing that stupid people are confined to one political belief system while commenting on how stupid they are is ridiculous. I don't understand them at all.

It is very clearly evenly divided among the partisans on both sides and those who have no side at all. In some ways the hyper-partisans on both sides lead the stupidity parade.

I love how all the anthropologists here telling us how stupid Americans are relative to everyone else. You morons haven't been out of your tri-state area. I've been to five countries. We're way (*)(*)(*)(*)ing smarter than most people.

Who , in this thread in particular, has said that Americans are dumber than persons of other nationalities? No such comparison was made.

AND there is a whole lot more to smart than book learning. I hold 4 college degrees, one of which is a Masters, my dad is a high school graduate, I consider him to be as smart as I am. I just have more book learning, which is but one factor in the smart equation.

The AVERAGE human is an idiot. Does that make you feel better?

"Do you think Obamacare is socialism?" - "Yes."

"Do you think the affordable care act is socialism?" - "No."

Imagine how stupid this man feels right now. lol

He even quoted you in this post. Someone else said Americans are dumb. I don't believe that. I believe many are misguided. I believe we have serious family and education problems. But I don't think we're, on average, dumb.

Saying there isn't a dumber country isn't the same as saying our country is dumber than every other country. Everyone could be equally dumb.

However, I think an argument could be made that given our relative starting points , Americans are dumber than Ethiopians , for example. I imagine even an Ethiopian could be taught that "Obamacare" and the ACA are one and the same, just as an example.

Oh, and there is already a thread for you to blame American's stupidity on the educational system, no reason to bring that into this thread.

I think the evidence suggests otherwise. This country is a festival of idiots. And it's even more glaring when you consider that Americans come with some built-in advantages (also shared by some other countries). We are comparably wealthy, get free K-12 education (even if the system isn't great), have access to countless news outlets and can easily flip on the computer to learn anything we want. But even with all that we are largely a country of idiots. And don't confuse that with ignorance. That is different.
