the average person is always forced to foot the bill in our society, yet the average american thinks someone else is going to foot the bill for this one. If that's not dumb, what is ?

This is pretty much the problem, isn't it? It's like how polls consistently show the vast majority of Americans being in favor of everything Obamacare does, except the individual mandate. And then you turn around and ask then if they like Obamacare and get a resounding "no". These people don't understand what Obamacare is, what it means, or what it does. Even opposition to the individual mandate doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you get down to how Obamacare works. Without the individual mandate but with regulations preventing companies from excluding on the basis of pre-existing conditions, it's literally impossible to keep insurance premiums at a manageable level, as people will just sign up for insurance when they get sick, and drop it when they get better.

The only way to really poll Americans on this issue is to stop talking about Obamacare and start talking about the effects and why the mandate is so crucial. Perhaps a good poll to have would be "Do you support allowing young Americans to stay on their parentsÂ’ insurance plans, banning insurance companies from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, offering tax credits to small businesses to buy insurance, requiring companies with more than 50 employees to provide health insurance, and providing subsidies to help individuals afford coverage under the assumption that this is only possible if we force everyone to purchase health insurance?" Because that would cut to the heart of the matter with none of the partisan bull(*)(*)(*)(*). It's no great secret that without the individual mandate, people love almost everything that Obamacare does, but dislike the individual mandate. There's no point in even talking about the polls if the people involved have no idea what Obamacare is.

As stated above, it's about branding - there has been a gigantic smear campaign for the better half of Obama's tenure to try to turn Obamacare into a four-letter word. Asking "do you support Obamacare" might as well be asking "Do you support Hitlercare" - it could contain nothing but an amendment supporting health care supplements for Medal of Honor recipients and nobody will want it because it's got Hitler in the name. Everyone and their dog has heard about how bad Obamacare supposedly is. Calling it Alinskycare might be a step up, because literally nobody other than right-wing wack-jobs have heard of Alinsky.

Did you already forget the "shellacking" of 2010? Why were those people elected? In was in direct to response to Obamacare and how it was passed. Parliamentary procedures were all good when Dems got to make the rules as they went along.

I remember it. It had far more to do with economics than anything else, which is depressing considering exactly what was going on in the economy back then.

there needs to be an exam covering history, politics, economics, and world cultures that needs to be passed before being eligible to vote. It would prevent retarded people like this from voting -

That's why I laugh when people complain about politicians. We the people elected those buffoons. Nancy Pelosi is VERY representative of her voters, as is Boehner, etc etc.
