    Greed says:
"I made my pile and I want to keep it."

    Envy says:
"Yeah, you made your pile but I want government to take it away from you and give it to me!"

Doesn't that about sum it up?

Government is taking more then 40% from the working man one way or another. You don't think that is too much? How much more should the ruling class get in your opinion?

No, Greed is "I made my pile through lobbying the government and tax loopholes and smart investments, and I see no reason why that should change", while Envy is "Why can't I get even a bit of a deal as good as that from the government".

All sorts of people make a pile with no help at all from the government, but envious moochers depend on the government to steal taxpayes' money to give the moochers free stuff.

As long as most people have more than enough to live on and the country is in good repair who cares?

So what? There are always moochers of some sort. Most people are hard working though, so its no big deal and youre doing fine so it doesnt matter.

Not at all. More like, greed says: "I have all I need but I still want more."

    Envy says:
"I'm sure glad I'm not like that person".

Take more, because you can, and no matter the cost to others, sums it up, much better.

No - most people would just prefer a civilized society where people got what they needed without thieving from one another. There's plenty to go round, as you know.

Not plenty to go round, in their view. It's all theirs, and you either play, or take the knife in the back. Not much of a choice, really.

The number of moochers is approaching that of the taxpayers. Before long there will be more moochers than taxpayers.

Crap - and they are taking more and more from you mugs, to the extent that you can't keep their system working. You know perfectly well why Cuba is poor - your spite. Only Italy and the UK of advanced countries have less social mobility than your caste society. Do grow up and stop parroting nonsense!

    This is so childish .
You try to drive to office and the road has swimming pools, who is going to fix this ...you?
You return home and someone has stolen your home cinema , who you gonna call if there is no police ?

The purpose of taxation is to be returned to you as services , even elementary school kids can understand that .

For those insisting that "this can be done by private businesses" i will remind you that in each and every case where private interests left to do as they like they formed cartels either fixing prices ( oil industry ) or rigging indexes ( like banksters ). You will pay more and you will live into a terrible society with caged communities resembling zoos.

Greed and envy are both mortal sins. Archaic though these pnonouncements may be, there is a reason they were declared so and held to as moral convictions for thousands of years, until the decline of morality and the practice of religion became obsolete.

Never the less, extreme greed (gluttony), as practiced by the ruling class (they actually cut food stamps during an era in which 80% of the population is suffering some effects of poverty) rises to reign of mental illness. To have everything one could possibly need and yet demand and take more from the weakest, poorest, least represented, just to add to their "pile"
then as if to add insult to injury, brainwash the weakminded to defend the 1% against their own best interests, (as this thread attempts with utter failure to do) is just sick, morally and mentally.

Envy? The feelings of the disenfranchised, the downtrodden, the ill of body, mind and spirit can hardly be simplified to as simple a situation as "envy".

Why don't you think about desperation, anger, hopelessness, futility.
Do you think entire families succumb to murder/suicide because of envy?

need is subjective. I want to make sure my kids are taken care of... when that's done, my grandkids... etc.

you have no idea the motives of the rich because your envy and coveting blind you to it.

    Re post #19:
Do you think you can rob the taxpayers to enrich the moochers indefinitely?

Greed says: "I made my pile by leveraging the effort of workers who, thanks to Govt policies, got lower wages that enabled me to dramatically increase my profits. I expanded my wealth thanks to special privileged low tax cuts that taxed the income from my wealth at less than have the rate that workers pay in taxes, including nice exemptions for SS taxes and medicare taxes. I keep a great deal of my wealth in offshore accounts were it is safe from tax and doesn't help the economy. Today just the top 1% of us hold 40% of the nation's wealth, double what it was just 30 years ago."

Envy says: "Can I participate in the growth of the American economy by getting a little better wages or having the taxes I pay cut so I can have a bit more of the nation's income and wealth too?"

    Greed say: "Pound sand."

    That about sums it up.

    Taxcutter says:
That is not the envy practiced by US welfare moochers. Getting a little better wages entails doing work that is little more valuable - not demanding that Big Government forces somebody to pay you more than your work is worth.

Iriemon says: People who work are not moochers and people should be paid what they are worth - not what Greed can get away with because of market conditions while doubling his take of the nation's income and wealthy.

    "Trickle down" hasn't trickled down.
