My wife heard this on the radio and I said, "So? Would you expect him to actually use those words?"

But, I guess it would make more sense for him to have used them, right? After all, he is a Muslim... errr... Christian, right? [his mistake - not mine]

It woudl appear the president read the exact same version that Lincoln did.

Was he supposed to read a different version of the speech?

 

So he used one of the historically credible versions? How is this an issue? Oh wait, its Obama doing something, and everyone knows conservatives have to hate everything he does or they might start looking at themselves in the mirror.

Personally, I think he made a conscious choice to select a version without god, and used that.

The fact of the matter is, the speech was written and said with the word God in it. Obama is the biggest piece of (*)(*)(*)(*) to ever hold the office. Stupid as hell he is.

It seems we have another faux outrage thread. So the complaint is that Obama used a version considered to be historically accurate? Man, that really is an outrage. I can't believe people are not hitting the streets over such an outrage.

Let me guess: If he used one of the versions thought to be not accurate people would have whined about that, too. Yet another case of lose-lose. Seriously, get a life.

 

The version of the speech given by Lincoln did not have the phrase in it. This was clearly demonstrated earlier in the thread.

I am not sure why anyone, left, right, Muslim, Chritstian, anyone would expect him to give a rendition of the speech that is different than the one actually given by Lincoln.

But the speech he gave did have it in it.

Why someone would not want to recite the exact speech he gave is beyond me. If Lincoln didn't give a speech at all, and just sent out a flyers with this writing on it, then Obama did the same, you might have a point, but he didn't so you don't.

 

Let's start with why anyone would expect him to be at Memorial today, and not recording his speech between the rounds of golf.

And second, if Gettysburg address had Allahu Akbar for the final words, in the interests of outreach and political correctness, Obama would have used them.

What do you have to back your assertion Lincoln did not utter the phrase and that Obama correctly omitted it?
