Jamaicans want Britian to pay reparations...

A little background, the article points out slavery was abolished in British colonies in 1833.

But I hope Jamaicans get their reparations - hopefully including that Jamaicans in Britain must travel back to Jamaica, and staying, if they too want to receive the 2 billion pounds in reparations being asked.

Actually the slave trade was abolished in 1807. 1833 was the year in which those born into slavery were emancipated.

I sincerely hope that they don't get single penny at all.

I hope they get their money - Britain's spending it on welfare anyway, quite a bit for Jamaicans living in Britain - and then we can watch as Jamaica doesn't improve one bit.

Hopefully, many Jamaicans will go back to Jamaica and stay there.

It serves Britain right. Look what they did to Rhodesia (Zambabwe). Rhodesia was the wealthiest nation in Africa, and Britain forced the farmers who built up the country to give up their rights, and it turned into Zambabwe, the poorest nation in Africa. Is this what democracy is all about, having people starved to death by corrupt governments because of some ideal or political expediency? Certainly a better system could have been established where both whites and blacks would have been better off?

 

Hey, the British only bought the slaves, they were not the ones who caught and sold the slaves. They saved their lives, because if they didn't buy them, then they would have been killed or starved to death. I say let the Arabs pay.

Non sense. Europe created the conditions in West Afrika, the conditions of civil war and unrest. Europeans then took captive civilians on the coast way before any so- called trading took place. Learn some Afrikan history from a non eurocentric bias next time.

They deserve every pound from hard working British taxpayers. You stole from them for so long, that poor Jamaicans can't even build shacks or dig wells due to how traumatized they have become from doing any type of work after being enslaved 180 years ago.
