It doesn't even really matter when USA finishes in Iraq, it's really just a game of global whack-a-mole really. The only difference to whack a mole is that USA makes extra holes for more enemies to pop out of.
Ah. I see. So you would have rather seen us just do whatever the hell we wanted regardless of what the Iraqi people wanted? Gotcha.
Even if the Iraqi people had wanted the American taxpayer to blow a couple of trillion dollars on a fraudulently-pretextd bloody invasion, military occupation, and the widespread ensuing carnage and chaos it unleashed, I would still have much preferred that the US prioritize its own interests, yes. . .
If we had wanted to do what was in Americas best interest, we should have stayed out of Iraq ALL TOGETHER. But, lets say, baring that act, and moving forward, What would have been in Americas best interest would have been to burn the country to the ground, and turn it into the 53'd state. Of course, that would have been the most horrific and terrible thing to do also.
Yes, they toppled a dictatorship and as for the nuclear weapons they went in to destroy, they did not exist so that was already done.
If you are given to flimsy pretexts for invading nations, when do you plan to attack North Korea, Iran, and whoever else is on your hit list? Most Americans who would be forced to play for your caprices, just admit that attacking Iraq was a mistake.
Let's not forget the ongoing costs of caring for our wounded veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. The estimate is that the taxpayers will spend about $2 million per wounded veteran during their lifetime. source and the total costs of both wars will eventually reach between 4 to 6 trillion dollars. source So yes we won the war militarily, but wasted trillions of our current and future wealth. Is the mideast any more stable? no. is the world any safer? no. (note: I initially supported our going after Bin Laden in Afghanistan, but I opposed from the beginning any war in Iraq, which the Bush admin made quite clear from the git go, was their goal. All you had to do to realize this was read the PNAC website, and then see who Bush put in charge of his foreign policy establishment to know that war with Iraq was a primary objective of the Administration.)
We replaced a Sunni dictatorship with a corrupt Shiite government and it still remains to be seen of this corrupt Shiite government turns into a dictatorship that was predicted by many of us in late 2002 and early 2003 and our track record on pre-war predictions is 100% accurate so far. It is interesting that now the tyrannical "monarchy" (dictatorship) in Saudi Araba is now an "enemy" of the government the US installed in Iraq on their behalf.
Yes, the nuclear threat was one of several fraudulent pretexts by which the two trillion dollar fiasco was contrived. Given the results, Americans are now the wiser and are very wary of listening to wacko birds as a result:
Yes. The war portion was over and the Allies won handily in a very short time. The failure at nation building is entirely on the heads of the Iraqis themselves; they had the opportunity an support to become a civilized country without an invasion by Iran and rejected it; they chose civil war instead. Even that is working out as a plus, as is Syria's civil war, for the West, as it is drawing in Islamo-vermin from all over the world, including from the U.S. and Europe, to slaughter each other with the usual Islamic savagery and brutality, which keeps them occupied and not plotting to blow up busses and subways and marathons in our countries. Let's hope that both of these civil wars last for decades and these animals slaughter millions of themselves. The rest of the planet will far better off for it, and they get to die happily serving their psychopath 'Prophet'; wins all around. If the murder fest draws in Saudi Arabia and the asteroid worshipers in Iran that's just icing on the cake.
