He is allowed to wise up. Even during the cold war, Eastern Europe was not "annexed" by Russia, even though Crimea is Russian. States like Yugoslavia were allowed to go their own way while the the other states were economically independent from Moscow, cooperating through Comecon.

 

Umm Stalin tried to assassinate Tito, like on more than one occasion. And if eastern europe wasn't annexed, why did the Soviets roll in with tanks and crush opposition movements in Budapest and Czechoslovakia?

We can't stop Syrians from killing each other.

The only time we should worry about any other country is if what happens there directly affects Americans or American property.
