It would be racist to restrict citizenship to those than can just walk there. Once on welfare, collecting food stamps and signed up to Obamacare they could easily afford the flight over to collect their free housing. 50% of the worlds population on $1/ day or even the 80% on $10/day or less would love to enrich your life with multiculturalism.

 

First of all sir, if we allow them to stay and work but don't make them citizens, they can't draw welfare can they? If they have done something to break the law they should go to jail. Making them citizens just keeps the revolving door open for millions more to sneak in and lay low for the next citizenship train. It does nothing to end our illegal problem, it only feeds it. I want to let them stay and work, but shut the cycle off of millions more sneaking in. Liberals are only thinking on new Democratic voters and (*)(*)(*)(*) on the country.

 

We already have laws against employers hiring illegals......it doesn't work because of the illegal document industry. Illegals don't care anything about 'citizenship'......all they care about is not being deported, a work card, a drivers license and the ability to travel back to their home country.

 

Conservatives don't like Mexicans because unlike Mexicans they are lazy. Mexicans make them look bad by actually putting in a hard days work instead of floating by on the hard work of others.

 

Have nothing against the average Mexican. My next door neighbors are Mexican and very nice people. My Son in Law is Hispanic and my grand daughter's husband is Hispanic. What I have a problem with is illegals. But you are right about one thing, most of them are hard working. At least the older ones.

we could potentially do it on a country to country basis. Canada for example seems completely silly not to have an open border with them. They are a stable country with a similar culture and a very good criminal database so we'd be able to ensure anyone coming in here is not a criminal. Same with countries like Japan, England, Germany, France, etc etc.

Personally I'm okay with open borders with every nation but I'm willing to limit it to strong allies just to get the ball rolling.

Also one benefit of open borders is it gets countries in competition.

For example say we have an ugly policy that Americans don't like. Our healthcare system for example, Obamacare. Maybe they like Canada's healthcare system better. People start going to Canada. Canada gains tax payers and consumers and so we have pressure to rethink our policy.

 

We have a good immigration policy now. We allow so many to come in every year from many different countries around the globe.Highly educated ones have first priority. We have our universities open to them and try and recruit the smartest of the bunch to stay here. Allowing millions of low educated illegals to come here from one or two south of our border countries does nothing to help us stay completive with other industrial countries.

 

We allow an extremely small percentage of people who want to come in. And almost everyone we allow in is a direct family member of a citizen or someone with extraordinary skills or wealth.

Not only that but it's clearly not working to keep people out because millions of people come in undocumented anyway. Wouldn't you rather they be documented and taxed and not forcing people out of work by working illegally under the table and tax free because that's the only work they can get?
