Sadly true...one has to really look for an instance where these special forces want-to-be's arrived and dealt with a sniper in full combat rig but one can find it every day where they arrived to intimidate citizens.

 

If it's so easy to kill without a gun then I guess we don't need guns to defend ourselves afterall.

And those deaths include 6 year old children who may not have died if the killer had not been armed with high powered rifle

Absolutely! There are police stations in this country with military grade equipment. Armored vehicles. Automatic assault weapons. Drones. It's disgusting.

If something warrants calling in the military then call in the military. Police should be as lightly armed as possible. They should treat the people in their community as equals. Not people they need to dominate and intimidate for fear of their lives.

When I say lightly armed ideally I'm talking about billy clubs, pepper spray and tazers.

 

They have all those now though.. why do they need the guns then?

 

The Bill of Rights (the first ten amendments to the Constitution) did not claim to grant any rights to anyone. It simply identified these rights as inherent to humanity, predating and outranking all man made authority of any kind. Instead of using a tragic incident as the excuse to disarm the population, consider that one armed person could have prevented the entire thing.

However did this country manage to survive without background checks? I can not believe the Founders never saw the need for background checks.
