https://news.yahoo.com/russians-swear-storm-kremlin-bans-obscenities-072418720.html?pt=BureoF2GVB To be honest, I don't have a problem with this. I do think that, when profanity become commonplace, it can degrade a language. I see nothing wrong with Putin wanting to protect family values and the Russian language.
What a stupid idea. Sad part is that we have a good number of people in the US who would love it if something like this were to be implemented here.
Enough with the family values mantra. If you need a dictator to tell you what your family values are or should be, you've got bigger problems than profanity.
Some people just want to ban everything they don't personally like. Ban violent video games Ban R rated movies Ban certain types of music Ban cussing lol... I drink, smoke, cuss like a Sailor (or Soldier I guess), and I'm doing just fine in life because I know WHEN I can drink, smoke, and cuss. Some idiots don't have that logic which is why we have some people advocating we have the government decide for us.
Isn't it usually usually the people that condemn big government that are the fans of Putin? I find that paradoxical.
I don't think so. From what i've seen its usually many on the right who advocate we ban bad video games and music and other media. The right is who condemns big government and they aren't very big fans of Putin...
That's a shame because you should. All Americans should or we are headed back to the days when you couldn't show a toilet or a man and and a woman in bed together on TV.
What other rights are you willing to give up? What other amendments in the constitution do you believe should be done away with?
St. Vladimir: The Putin Worship Continues On Fox News http://www.newscorpse.com/ncWP/?p=11761 Explaining The Conservative Love Affair With Vladimir Putin http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/ex...-vladimir-putin-its-all-about-opposing-obama/
All he has to do become the next GOP front-runner is to ban all social programs and religions other than Christianity. Once that happens it's Putin/Palin 2016.
It sounds to me like the right is sort of using Putin to bash Obama. Sort of saying although he is a POS he is a powerful leader who can make decisions and has clear set goals and is loved by much of his nation. All of which are characteristics that Obama is lacking.
So, in essence, what they are doing, is calling a dictator a powerful leader and praising him for this. All for the sake of bashing the POTUS. That is pretty screwed up. But here's the rub..the right also accuses and bashes Obama of appointing himself king and dictator.
Oh please, save your hyper partisanship for another thread. Far worse was done to Bush and I personally believe they equally are horrid presidents. As to the OP, as long as its happening in Russia, who am I to care? If any idiot tried it here i sure would.... Personal responsibility should never be gained through orders.
Oh so governments shouldn't tell you what not to say but you can tell me what I should and shouldn't think?
Putin can make decisions and set clear goals because he is a de facto dictator at the head of a huge centralized government. Is that really the model the Right wants Obama to follow? Putin is also "loved" by his country because people who openly oppose his rule tend to go through things like suddenly dying from poisoning.
Yeah I know, they're called PC Liberals, who've gone so far as to think that even the name "Redskins" should be banned.
And putin / palin 2016 R would never work. The msm would demand a proper birth cert. While digging through everything he ever said or had written down to properly vet( destroy him) him.
..and I repeat...it is the right wing that has been having a love affair with Putin. If one is not sociopathic they would empathize with a sect of Americans that are personally offended by the word "Redskins". Why would anyone care if a sport's team name is changed if it is offensive to the people that it directly points to? That is so superficial. And btw...As opposed to Putin, Obama has not banned anything to do with the name controversey.
