Because the only purpose is to know who has firearms to take them away.

    Here's an even better idea:

Step 1: completely abolish all Federal regulations and taxes (such as the NFA, any future assault weapons bans, the 68' gun control act - the whole lot of it)
    Step 2: celebrate!

I think at this point it would be impossible to 'disarm' the country.

They may be able to restrict what new firearms are bought and sold, but only a select few would be willing to turn in weapons they already have.

If they mad handguns illegal today and declared it a felony to possess one, I still wouldn't turn mine in.

Why is it people who crow about owning guns assume they can't be taken by surprise?

No, it's not. Here's a couple of things for you to consider:

How about this? People with scissors in their hand are ten times more likely to die by by running and falling on scissors than people who who do not have scissors in hand when running.

    Or:

People who do not swim with sharks are less likely to have huge bite marks from Mako sharks than people who swim and feed sharks.

Your analogy is pointless to the OP's original thread.

    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/01/04/ex-burglars-say-newspapers-gun-map-wouldve-made-job-easier-safer/

While some burglars may use the newspaper’s information to avoid guns, Portenier said others will target homes with guns. The newspaper’s decision could even lead to legally-owned guns proliferating on the street, he said.

“That’s one of the first things we’d check out—guns are on the top of the list of what you want to steal,” he said. “They can walk out with a shotgun and a couple of handguns and sell them on the street for $300 or $400 a pop. They can sell them to a gangbanger who ends up killing someone."

Frank Abagnale, who was portrayed by Leonardo DiCaprio in the 2002 film “Catch Me if You Can,” and is perhaps the most famous reformed thief to ever earn a legitimate living by offering the public insight into the criminal mind, called the newspaper’s actions “reprehensible.”

“It is unbelievable that a newspaper or so called journalist would publish the names and addresses of legal gun owners, including federal agents, law enforcement officers and the like,” said Abagnale, who noted that he grew up in the suburban New York area served by the Journal-News. “This would be equivalent to publishing the names of individuals who keep substantial sums of money, jewelry and valuables in their home.”

You're mistaken if you think that telling people you have guns in your house will somehow make you less of a target.

Why give State governors a free pass regarding that which is necessary to the security of a free State?

You won't get any serious answers because of course unarmed People don't want a
Big sign telling everyone they're a prime target.

The best defense is a big dog. Most break ins are smash and grabs. They want jewelry, phones, tablets, cash, any thing small and portable they can sell easily. Most go in unarmed and the last thing they want to do is fight with a dog much less shoot one. They know they have a few
Minutes after the alarm goes off to get out of dodge. They case the place to make sure no one is home and want to get in and out.

At least this is what cops told us. If they see a dog they can't drop kick across the room they'll just move on to the next house.

How about a straight answer for this:

Why give State governors a free pass regarding that which is necessary to the security of a free State?

Over looks the fact that crime is an essentially mercenary activity and only the insane are willing to risk death for money. Does remind me of a story from some years back there was a serial rapist prowling the campus of the local university. As many as 25 young women were raped including six in one small apartment however three girls were left strictly alone. The girl's with the human silhouette target with three bullets in the head three in the heart and three in the crotch taped to her door and the girls living on either side of her.

    It's already been done.

The statist swine choose not to make public that they are defenseless.

Homes with pools are more likely to experience pool related deaths.

Thankfully, pools are regulated and these laws protect innocent people from being killed by idiotic owners.

    And yet people still die.

Of course, there are laws regulating guns in the same sense.

What what is your point? Or are you making (*)(*)(*)(*) up again?
