Fixing Standards for the Union is a delegated power. You are quibbling about a political solution; it is about promoting the general welfare as expressly declared in our supreme law of the land.

Why does the right not have a "ready to go" off the shelf solution at lower cost?

My political philosophy is that politics is a joke. The sooner it ends, the better off we will be. So never.

Politics is the problem not a solution.

Fiscally conservative, socially moderate to conservative. Limited government and no social welfare. You get free benefits then you work for it while receiving it. No additinal benefits when on assistance each time you have another child. A strong military but used wisely. There's no room in my world for political correctness.

My personal views on politics are lightly given, for I don't follow them much, but I do understand the beliefs of the parties. From what I've researched, I believe that the keys to a well-rounded government are as follows:

1.) Aim to end poverty and homelessness, especially with our veterans.
2.) Focus on a stabile economic system, cut down on taxes put upon necessities.
3.) Interfere with business endeavors, especially considering pollution and tax evasion.
4.) Abortion should be a free choice within a reasonable term of pregnancy. It is the woman's choice what to do with her own body.

Number 3 may be counter-productive if handled improperly. Tax evasion is against the law already.

I believe we should use socialism to bailout capitalism like usual and correct for the capital inefficiency of a natural rate of unemployment and its effect in our market based economy.

My political philosophy involves a resource based economic model, no monetary system, with the foundation based upon science and technology used to solve the age old problem of the rich and the poor. And so there would be very little politics at all, just a goal of providing all of the needs of a society, which would practically eliminate crime, for crime has a cause, which is deprivation of those resources needed to survive, and to prosper.

Computers would be intrinsic and essential to manage the high techonology, and would replace most of the political decisions. No monetary system gets rid of legal bribery known as modern politics.

Hopefully when capitalism implodes we will be able to finally construct the system that isn't perfect, but far better than what we know of socialism and capitalism, which are both failures at providing for humanity and managing resources so that we do not waste the finite.

We now have the capability to do this, without even taking into account new advancements in technology. Of course humanity will have to inevitable suffer monumentally in order to finally allow intelligence to operate.

Since both political ideologies today are still grounded in a system that will naturally implode, they are useless and of course have always been destructive. But that which comes forth from stupidity and ignorance is generally destructive.

A different paradigm, brought about by pure intelligence. Check out the Venus Project. This 97 year old lays it out well, as he has worked on it for most of his life.

But his goal is different from known economic systems which have a monetary system. His goal, which will eventually be the goal of humanity, IMO, is to provide for all humans, getting rid of the rich and the poor that comes from economic models based upon scarcity. We no longer have to live as if there isn't enough to care for all, for all to prosper, to thrive, and therefore only allow some to have enough to prosper. But it will require technology, the same technology that will cause capitalism to implode eventually. For it is more profitable to the owners to use machines, to replace humans. Yet if you logically work this out, consider where the irreversible trend takes us, you don't have income for consumers to buy what the machines make, hence imploding market capitalism. Capitalism added to technology implodes capitalism, and so it really is akin to a cancer, that is self destructing.

Plus market capitalism is wasteful, acting like resources are infinite, when in fact they are finite. Capitalism only works with growth, and more and more consumption of the earth's finite resources. If china suddenly had a middle class proportion to their population as America has(although ours is shrinking) and the Chinese all bought cars, we cannot pull enough oil out of the ground and refine it to turn it into gas to fuel internal combustion engines. So the current paradigm is certainly doomed. What we use after that will determine if the world is a 3rd world planet, or we finally use our intelligence and create a new civilization, where all humans have enough and there are no rich hoarding vast amounts of wealth.

So, for a different paradigm, check out the venus project.

    9 Principles:

    1. America Is Good.

    2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
God “The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained.” from George Washington’s first Inaugural address.

    3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
Honesty “I hope that I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider to be the most enviable of all titles, the character of an honest man.” George Washington

    4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
Marriage/Family “It is in the love of one’s family only that heartfelt happiness is known. By a law of our nature, we cannot be happy without the endearing connections of a family.” Thomas Jefferson

    5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
Justice “I deem one of the essential principles of our government… equal and exact justice to all men of whatever state or persuasion, religious or political.” Thomas Jefferson

    6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
Life, Liberty, & The Pursuit of Happiness “Everyone has a natural right to choose that vocation in life which he thinks most likely to give him comfortable subsistence.” Thomas Jefferson

    7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
Charity “It is not everyone who asketh that deserveth charity; all however, are worth of the inquiry or the deserving may suffer.” George Washington

    8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
On your right to disagree “In a free and republican government, you cannot restrain the voice of the multitude; every man will speak as he thinks, or more properly without thinking.” George Washington

    9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.
Who works for whom? “I consider the people who constitute a society or a nation as the source of all authority in that nation.” Thomas Jefferson

    12 Values:

    Honesty
    Reverence
    Hope
    Thrift
    Humility
    Charity
    Sincerity
    Moderation
    Hard Work
    Courage
    Personal Responsibility
    Gratitude

Promoting the general welfare is a form of public charity and the power to provide for the general welfare of the United States is delegated to our federal Congress.

Read what Washington said again. In Layman's terms, you have every right to ask for charity, but that doesn't automatically entitle you to it just because you asked. In other words, if you're capable of getting whatever you're asking for on your own, why should the government provide it for you? If a government granted charity to EVERYBODY who simply asked for it, it would bankrupt itself.

You don't really believe in Capitalism do you? It just takes money to make more money. We have an official Mint to work with.

Yes, I do believe in Capitalism, because the system is not broken. What's broken is the people using it and the people's whithering faith in it.

If you're suggesting that we can just create money out of thin air by printing more of it, you're either delusional or just have no understanding of Supply and Demand. However, The value of our currency, I think, has been getting lower and lower because we are no longer on a gold standard; there's no collateral to back it up except for our credit rating.

Oh wait, I remember; in Obama's first term, our credit rating dropped from AAA to AA, and STILL people were stupid enough to re-elect him. If these first two years of his second term don't read "Voter's Remorse", you're either blind, naïve, or a drone.

Only the left appreciates the social value of our tax dollars. I am saying only a public sector can endeavor truly capital intensive projects such as Hoover Dam or the Fed.

I understand that full employment of resources should be a benchmark Standard in our public policies. Thus, any thing that can be weighed and measured can have a fixed Standard in our republic.

It seems, to me, that we merely need to stimulate demand and let consumer dollars pursue goods and services.

Why does the right believe we would have rampant inflation in modern times, with "full employment of resources in the market for labor"? We should achieve a new equilibrium with a more efficient economy.

I disagree. The Capitalist system here in the US is definitely broken.

The fair and free market economy has been taken a beating over the last 3 decades due to the influence of private, public, and Government Oligopolies.
This influence takes place in the form of influencing regulations to keep competition out (including small business), anti competitive practices up to and including price fixing, and Tax law.

There is a reason why, despite not having universal healthcare, our private (supposedly efficient system) is more expensive than every other First world country each of which have universal healthcare and are run by horribly inefficient Government Bureaucracy. Its called price fixing.

Every time some new regulation or law is made that effects the Oligopolies interest they are sitting at the table, and they should have the right to sit at the table. Over time regulations slowly change but the due to the balance of probabilities they change to favor the Oligopolies due to the influence they exert.

Also sitting at the table are the Politicians. These are the folks who are supposed to be representing the interest of the little guy but these folks owe their political existence to the Oligopolies. How do you think that works out most of the time ? The little guy gets kicked to the curb and the interest of the Oligopoly is served.

Taxes are a necessary evil. Both corporations and individuals benefit from roads, sewage, police, infrastructure and so on. Without these a modern society can not function. The tax burden is supposed to be 50/50 (Federal, State, Municipal), 50% from Industry and corporations and 50% from workers.

In days gone by corporations upheld their end of the bargain.

    http://www.cbpp.org/cms/index.cfm?fa=view&id=1311

Today their contribution has fallen further. This chart shows 10% but it is probably slightly higher if a method similar to the one used in the calculation above was used .. perhaps not though. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f9/U.S._Federal_Receipts_-_FY_2007.png

Whether it is 10 or 15% the moral of the story is clear. Corporations used to pay their fair share but no longer do so. The workers are getting screwed and footing the bill.

The AAA to AA rating drop was not due to Obama... It is no secret that the factors that led to this rating drop happened prior to Obama.

I obviously do not belong here as this seems to be mostly a right wing site .I read through many of these and I had to chuckle because Republicans are now trying to call themselves libertarians when they don't really understand what it means. I also find that some here say the right things and then add the "but'" like they believe in helping the poor but then make it sound like they are all moochers. I find that many here say they don't like government in their lives but they have no problem with going into the lives of women in their reproductive freedom. And the peopleWho say things like women use abortion as birth control which only shows how little they know about abortion. It is both physically and mentally painful. I also get offended when people oppose abortion because they believe it is a life but then have no problem making exceptions. Either it is a life or it isn't. I also think that those who condemn Obamacare but support national healthcare need to realizethat you don't throw away the baby with the bathwater. This is a new idea for this country and it would be wonderful if the Republican Congress worked to improve it, not to get rid of it altogether. People here also point out how expensive it is when study afterStudy shows the cost will be going down. These people are angry at Obama but not the insurance companies that have been raising rates year after year after year.

Why not lower our tax burden through simplification? We could be lowering our tax burden and improving the efficiency of our economy at the same time.

While I certainly agree there are many far right (Tea Tainted) individuals that tend to spew and scream their rather interesting take on established reality.....I would point out that they are far from a majority here.

When one finds a particular political philosophy offensive, they tend to see it as dominant....kinda like the VW bug effect while driving to Disney lad with you siblings. If you decide to pay attention instead to those that you find interestingly agreeable, the forum becomes much more pleasant and you can focus energies on debate.

In other words, you don't think this political forum suits you because there are a lot of people that don't agree with you? '

Odd, that's the only reason I stick around. I can't think of anything much more boring than sitting in an echo chamber. I can masturbate without involving random people on the internet.

Correct across the board, and that explains why I do not leave PF and post exclusively to a genuinely conservatives dominated forums system. I have had several invitations to do just that and yet I enjoy opposition posting.

That's the fun part of this stuff. In my estimation this system is only slightly conservative dominated and even that is only because Barack Obama has proved to be such a dismal president that the old leftwing crowd has thinned out rather than stay and either admit that they were wrong about the fellow from the get-go or continue fruitlessly to excuse the inexcusable in regards to this sad sack president.

But after the mid term elections and we start edging toward presidential election politics again I fully expect most of those old hands leftwingers to magically begin appearing again with absolutely ZERO political lessons having been learned. I can't wait for that to happen. It should be a total hoot!
