Thats because they dont make anything, they write software. Just as Drs and Lawyers dont run afoul of enviromental regulations because they dont have any.

    The thread does have the word 'environment' in it, but it's not about the environment in total. But, since you brought it up, consider what 'resourses' are used in the making of a computer. and related tech. Here's a fun quote from Buffett;

"I'll tell you why I like the cigarette business. It costs a penny to make. Sell it for a dollar. It's addictive. And there's fantastic brand loyalty".
—Buffett, quoted in Barbarians at the Gate: The Fall of RJR Nabisco

Soros is in the business of manipulating economies and social engineering..probably not guilty of environmental infringement. So ya got me there.

But all said, they all have some blood on their hands. Except Soros of course...he's a peach.

I'll say one thing the Democrats are putting out a lot better adds here in Arizona than Republicans are. I have always been impressed at how much better the Democrats sell themselves than Republicans do and how much better they can hang labels on Republicans and make them stick. Republicans need to do a much better job than they do if they want to get their message out.

You might want to re-read Robin Hood. In the story, it was the government that was taking all the people's money. Remember Prince John's favorite phrase? "Taxes! Taxes! Taxes!"

Now who does that sound like? I'll give you a hint:

    Not true.
Berkshire Hathaway (Buffett) for instance owns all or most of many manufacturing businesses.

The most environmentally conscious people I know are Republicans who are hunters and/or fishers. They are the ones that check the seals on their boat motors to make sure there are no leaks. They are the ones that leave the cabin and campsites the cleanest. They are the ones that attend the DNR meetings and discuss animal populations.

Take a look at the trash left behind Earth Day events. Or the monumental amounts of garbage left behind by the Climate protest in New York last week. Most "environmentalists" do it simply because its en vogue and so that they can pat themselves on the back and feel self righteous and pompous.

Most important of all many environmentalists still oppose nuclear power. They live on this fantasy notion that wind and solar are somehow magically capable of providing all the worlds power.

And I note that the Magna Carta by King John, inspired the writers of the American Constitution. So I don't understand the comment of "Taxes' taxes, taxes" unless it was that comment that forced King John to come up with a document that has become the foundation for the law in many countries since it ratification at Runnymede in 1215

Oh this is a bit sarcastic and TIC, but many Americans these days, sometimes don't seem to recognise that the world existed before 1700 and some good things that they adopted were actually thought of by others before them.

The Left are talking of the big polluters like the coal companies and those factories that use coal. While it's true, they do put out some dirty stuff, if you close them all down you lose hundreds of thousands of good paying jobs. Jobs that pay a living wage. Something the Left has been complaining about not having for years. It wouldn't be so bad if this administration were replacing those jobs with other jobs that pay a living wage, but they aren't. They are still taxing the hell out of companies, driving them off shore, or sticking so many rules and regulations on them that it makes it to expensive to start a business in this country. Libs need to learn you can't have it all your way. If we are to close down these businesses, we need to replace them with other jobs that pay a living wage and it isn't happening with this administration.

I think the climate changes all the time. Last week I had frost on my yard in the morning. Two days later I didn't.

But no one has made more money off the climate nonsense than Al Gore. While he’s running around the world preaching about how we’re destroying the environment, he hops on his private jet, causing more destruction to the climate than 100 SUVs in a year, to his next gig; all for money.

Well, the monarchy granted those rights to their subjects. In America, we declared them to be ours all along.

In fact the fuedal barons of the day imposed the Magna Carta on King John. He didn't write the thing, he submitted to it.

    ^I'm talking about this.

    ^......which likely stemmed from this.

That's true. I won't argue with you there. But I also think there are others who don't want to admit that the American version was an upgrade because it makes them feel inadequate by comparison. Particularly (and I'm not picking on you here, so I hope you don't feel like I am) people from Europe. Which I can kind of understand. Because it's sort of like watching your child grow up to outshine you. America was Europe's child. And it grew up to be Ken Griffey Jr.

Re your very final comment, Unifier, I think the US constitution as originally written is and was a very fine document and declaration of intent. Its just a great pity to me that the modern politicians seem to use it and abuse it so regularly these days that the true meaning has been lost on all but genuine people. All the people I know who are not extreme in either direction, right or left, would claim to be middle of the road Conservatives, I think, to whom the constitution would have great and lasting meaning.

You are right, Guru, hunters and fiahers know that if they don't look after the environment their hobby will be decimated.

Fox hunters in UK and pheasant shooters know that they have to mainatin their stock or they won't have any sport.

Thats nice. Its still a grant of rights from the king, to the subjects.

    Seriously?

I wasn't planning on taking this thread seriously, bucause I felt the OP was overly vitriolic, but you have to be kidding.

The entire global warming denial machine is evidence of that.

And take a look at what's happening in fracking states.

First, Dick Cheney got Federal regulations changed so fracking fluid is expempt from the federal Clean Water Act.

Then the GOP governor and legislature in Pennsylvania cut the budget of the DEQ in HALF, in order to make sure that no pesky local regulators showed up to see what the frackers are doing.

Just dont see the evidence of fracking or CO2 "hurting" the enviroment. And still have a hard time considering what I exhale with every breath to be pollution.

There is a very real difference between a king granting rights and the subjects taking them.

That aside, I was merely correcting the misconception some here seemed to have that King John wrote the Magna Carta, when it was actually the Barons and possibly a Catholic Archbishop that authored it.

Well, when you wear blinders, you're not likely to see much.

There is a lot of evidence that fracking is problematic. I believe that the issues that have been raised can be delt with and allow fracking to be safe.

But it's easier for the industry to buy the government it wants, as I have documented.

With the Federal governement hamstrung by the "Halliburton loophole", and the Pennsylvania DEQ buried and understaffed, fracking wildcatters in the Marcallus shale regions can do pretty much whatever they want until it becomes really obvious that something is really wrong.

Do I worry about this. Yes.

You would too if you lived downstream of the discharge like I do.

As for your comments on global warming. You'd get a good laugh from the assembled engineers and regulators I'm at a confrence with now.

You can cite your oil industry press releases all you like, but the issue has long since been settled outside of the right wing echo chamber.

Not even the fervent believers refer to it as global warming since it hasnt warmed for 17 years.
