See above: howdy! I'm a paleoconservative libertarian / classical liberal and I consider those to mean about the same thing. When I take that Political Compass test I usually score as far to the right economically as the test can show - which is correct, as I believe in laissez fair capitalism - and about halfway down on the libertarian side of things, because well, below that seems like anarchy to me. I have heard this position called "constitutional minarchy" before. Big fan of the libertarian maxim called the non-aggression principle, which considers the initiation of force to always be wrong. Big fan of America's founding principles, as written in the Declaration of Independence. Specifically, that we are all created equal, that we all have natural unalienable human rights, and that we create governments to protect these rights, as opposed to some piece of paper somewhere giving us rights. Big fan of the Constitution as written and some but not all of the amendments; vehemently and diametrically opposed to "living document" "interpretations" of the same. I think the 16th and 17th were as ill-advised as the 18th and should likewise be repealed. What does this mean? Well, I guess it means I will vote for the LP some of the time, the GOP some of the time, and the Greens / Democrats none of the time. Happy to be here and try this place out.
