Big question: would constant 1G, in space travel, provide the exact same effects as Earth's gravity?

let's remember that gravity is an electro-magnetic force acting on all atoms and even light, and we still don't full understand how it works or how its created.

G-forces, are merely a stationary object being pushed in a direction by another object.

Almost exactly the same, for the purposes of astronauts exactly the same. Tidal forces won't be present but we humans don't feel the tidal forces on Earth anyway.

Gravity is not an electromagnetic force, totally different. There are several ways to think about gravity, one is just an acceleration field. Acceleration fields (and normal everyday acceleration) have curvature in space-time, and in the case of gravity cause objects (even massless ones that have momentum) to move towards each other. You're right G-forces are another object (e.g. the ground) pushing on us. In free fall there's no g-forces even though you are in a gravitational field. An accelerating spaceship can duplicate g-forces exactly (ignoring tidal forces).

I think you were posting with ignorance about Newton's third law, "If this didn't happen the ROCKET WOULD HAVE NOTHING TO PUSH AGAINST TO MOVE." As another poster pointed that out, your "nothing to push against" statement displays total ignorance about Newton's third law. Then you said rockets produce more thrust in the atmosphere than in space (vacuum). More BS. Of course, statements regarding physics from you are like statements from Penelope on Saturday Night Live.

Gravity is an energy field of all pervasive vectoring particles that creates pressure on objects within it. There is no such thing as 'attraction', rather two or more objects are forced together due to a wave shadowing effect. This wave shadowing creates a pressure differential. There is a lower gravitational pressure between objects versus outside their proximity, thus 'pushing' them closer together. Also, since gravity is due to the motion of (lets call it a graviton) these particles, that is why gravity can be either increased or negated with motion. IE, falling towards Earth neutralizes gravity's effect and accelerating increases it.

To answer the OP's question; once we are able to harness this graviton particle we can use it as a gravity drive on a craft. It would reduce the gravitation pressure on the front and increase it aft. Thus propelling it with gravity and not suffer the effects of increasing mass on the ship and its occupants. There would also be no time dilation with such a propulsion system either and faster than light travel achieved.

edit: This is what most scientific circles would consider warp drive. But space is not 'warp-able', because space in essence, is three dimensional nothingness.

You are not understanding this at all.

I will explain it as simple as I can.

You turn on your garden hose all the way on.....it shoots a stream of water and easily moves on the ground if the pressure is good.

Now...same thing except the garden hose is shut off and turned on at a rate of opening and closing the value fully open to fully closes in .00001 seconds and a 1/2 second of time exists between the opening and closing of the valve.

The hose does not move when left on the ground as it shoots out a small amount of water and then the water stops coming out.

A continuous stream of water has water pushing against water as the water coming out of the hose pushes against the slower moving water in front of the stream traveling slower the further from the hose end it gets.

    SAME THING WITH A ROCKET!!!

no, according to Einstein and others, space, time, even light can be bent.

and according to Einstein, gravity isn't actually a force, but merely bends in space-time caused by objects with large amounts of mass

Correct...Gravity is NOT a Force even if that is what most people have been taught their whole lives.

Gravity is a Warping of Space-Time caused by the Higgs Field which exists within all Hadrons that being the Higgs Boson which allows Hadrons to obtain MASS.

Dark Matter plays it's part as well as over 95% of our Universe is comprised of Dark Matter and Dark Energy.

Nonsense. First, if the hose doesn't move it's because of the friction. Put the hose in a frictionless environment and the hose will move. This is a physical law.

A rocket engine does not produce thrust because exhaust particles are pushing against other particles. If that were true a rocket would produce more thrust in the atmosphere (lots of particles to supposedly push against). A rocket engine produces the most thrust in vacuum. If it were true that exhaust particles push against other particles to produce thrust, as you reduce exhaust velocity thrust would drop to zero, it doesn't.

Technically light is not bent, it follows the curvature of space-time in a straight line (straight line meaning the shortest distance between two points on a curved geometry). Same thing with the Earth's orbit. The orbit is not an ellipse in general relativity, we are following a straight line in space-time around the Sun. When you throw a baseball straight up in the air, it comes back down to you because it follows a straight line in space-time.

Whether gravity is a force or not depends on your point of reference. On Earth, if we shoot a projectile far enough we can see the projectile curve due to the Coriolis force. From someone observing outside the Earth, they would say there is no force, the projectile went in a straight line but the Earth was rotating. Most inertial forces like this are called "fictitious" forces. That doesn't mean they don't exist, just that they can be eliminated by changing your relative point of reference (which is why Einstein's theory is called "relativity").

The same thing occurs with gravity. If we don't consider 4-dimensional space-time (and we usually don't), gravity is a force. It's a fictitious force because we can choose a frame of reference where it isn't. That doesn't mean you won't go splat as you accelerate when jumping out a window, so treating gravity as a force has some practical advantages.

Your words are comical. They are void of the most basic science. Worse you do not admit it when you are incorrect. 10A was right. You are dead wrong. The garden hose example is the exact same demonstration of for every action there is an opposite and equal reaction. It would work equally in space as it does on earth. The water pushes against nothing. reva

Remember... Einstein only hypothesized that space is some kind malleable fabric. So he was only making an educated guess. It is not 'fact' and science has yet to explain the mechanism behind it. Light 'bending' is only a change in a photon's vector. And time is not a physical attribute of the universe. It is merely a mathematical philosophy that quantifies cycles and oscillations.

I don't expect most folks to digest this very well, since it is considered heresy against Einstein's magic space fabric and current scientific paradigm.

First of all there is no GRAVITON PARTICLE.

Secondly our Universal Space-Time is at MINIMUM 10 or 11-D and possibly 26-D.

Matter and Energy cannot even exist in only 3-D.

Think about what you are saying.

The water that comes out of the hose is PUSHED by the water under pressure infront of it.

When that water is ejected out of the hose IT BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN!!!

If a hose that had water coming out of it under a High Pressure ejected this water into say a RIP IN SPACE-TIME......thus the moment the water and we will allow this water to come out of the hose 1/2 inch and then the water disapears as it enters this rift.....THE HOSE WOULD NOT MOVE!!!

You could stick a 2x4 in the ground and just hang the end of the Garden Hoses end on this 2x4 and as long as the ejected water was 1/2 inch from ejection pulled into a rip in space-time.....THAT HOSE WOULD REMAIN HANGING WITHOUT ANY U NAILS OR ANYTHING.

You do the same thing with a hose and the water that comes out first begins to slow down the further away from the hose it travels and at the point where this water begins to slow the water following it in a stream CAUSES THE HOSE TO MOVE!!!

There is some resistance to the air that adds to motion but it is the faster water just exiting the hose pushing upon the stream before it that moves the hose!!!

A Rocket also has a burning stream of propellent and this pushes against the air as well as it's own stream......but once in space it has only it;s own stream to push against.

After all if the stream was a PULSE.....it would take much longer to get up to velocity than a continuous stream.

This is hypotheses treated like facts. ^

Energy is just matter in motion... and I contend there are only 3 physical dimensions with respect to motion(vector).

Also, I theorize, dark matter is the particle(graviton, or what ever) responsible for gravity, and dark energy is also gravity. While gravity can create an inward pressure on objects within its field, it also creates an over all outward pressure forcing the universe apart. Consider an inflated balloon as an analog for the universe and gravity. If you're inside such a pressure chamber you would feel the inward force exerted on your body, while that same force is pushing the balloon outward.

    Question everything....

Well Matter is completely comprised of Quantum Particle/Wave Forms of Energy....but an Atom could never move at Light Speed.

A 3-D Only Universe is not possible because if it was there would be no Frequency.....No Matter or Energy....and No Motion.

Perhaps we could have a liposuction procedure so we lose half our weight, then gain twice it through a 2G journey? Lol.

Seems like we'd be able to handle something at least a little above 1G for the long term.

Hmm. Sort of sucks that there's no reverse of that 2001 gravity loop thing.

When it comes down to it, our bodies are just information. You can get carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen almost anywhere. Maybe one day we'll bring a big bucket of those elements and a machine to reconstruct us - then we could travel at whatever speed we like!

I guess the good news is that the G force limit isn't as significant for long-term flights. If you're accelerating at 1G, that's roughly 347 days until you approach light speed. So if you're traveling to another solar system, you're all good (so long as you can generate that much energy). If the destination is 30ly away, what's 2 years of acceleration/deceleration compared to that? Practically nothing!

You are correct. Newton considered gravity a force that acts upon mass, of course he was wrong. His theory worked for some objects but not all. We humans 'feel' gravity because we are on a surface that is bent (as you correctly state) by the mass of the earth. Its so difficult to envision this. I hope Einstein has it right but something tells me we still don't know everything there is to know about gravity.reva

Reality for any one is not the same for every one, so reality can not, and will not be defined universally, due to the inescapable laws of the physical universe.reva 2014

The only people that have been taught that was taught that (the above quote) by uneducated people. I was taught Einstein theory in high-school in east Tennessee.

We are not sure what 'causes' gravity. The higgs field concept is pure theory not supported by empirical evidence. AboveAlpha

Dark matter and dark energy is a completely made up concept. Science has no theory that is supported by empirical evidence as to what it is. We know it exists only because of the motions and other attributes of objects in our universe.

Any claim by science can be a falsehood, the scientific method demands it be so. However Space-Time and the Eisenstein' ideas of fourth dimensional space seems to be correct. I say that even though Einsteins theory, and other ideas of time as a dimension is being attacked by the geeks of M theory which is a spin-off unconditionally horrid string theory. (String theory spin offs like like a lung lugger spins off a nose picking finger). Gawd who could beleive a infinite universe theory that promises we are living in one of infinite or a large number of possible universes where every possible thing could and is happining???

Anyway, I unlike you put the idea of Einsteins 4d space as the best definition of our reality. But what is reality? When one thinks about it reality it becomes clear that its a road map of existing in a time dependent (temporal) universe while possessing a non-time dependent ie a atempoal mind and soul. Reality is merely a way we humans can understand, navigate, therefore survive in our beautiful zoo ie our universe. Reality has absolutely nothing to do with how the universe really is! But I digress my friends, and I unlike the Dos Equis beer dude, I am NOT the most interesting man in the world so I will close...~reva~
