ABC, Disney Channel, and major stakeholdings in A&E and ESPN generate close to half of Disney's revenue. Good luck getting people to boycott sports center.

The complaints will increase in size and scope until it is unbearable and then extend past complaint, IF we continue to neglect to using our right to alter or abolish.

Well, I guess they'll have to do without your custom.

You have to admit though, that telling your family you're not going to hit up disneyland next month because they fired some american workers and hired indian workers sounds a bit... a touch... too much. Arguing with internet people who you believe are wrong is one thing, but it's entirely another when you tell your wife you canceled that disney cruise to the bahamas.

She'd brain you, dude, and you know it.

I've never been to nor have ever taken my girls to, a major corporation theme park, much less Disney. I have taken them a couple times to the Wisconsin Dells, which has more then enough rides and great scenery to boot. It may be a tourist trap but it's a local one.

You know it is weird, when I was a kid, we lost our minds over going to an amusement park or going on vacation, but its not that way with my kids. It is not that big of a deal for them.

Rubio's an idiot. One need not be a "Ph.D." to be a computer network tech an A.S. will do just fine.

On the contrary... it is the fault of the people doing the wrong thing, and the people giving permission (or making it possible) to do the wrong thing. My comment suggested the comment made did not include the accountability of the administration, only Disney.

So all of a sudden you have an issue with immigration? Is xenophobia setting in?

good post, but the trouble is that the sheeple keep voting in the parties who encourage this kind of activity - the sheeple want, the sheeple get!

    Very wrong ideas posted here.

"No, raising the minimum wage doesn’t lead to layoffs."

But this case is just special because we see the lower waged foreigners coming into America.
The other businesses do the same thing, but relocate in the foreign nation, itself.

What we need is a selective Tariff which adds taxes on the sneaker companies and Apple Computer Corp, etc.
What they would earn by using foreign low wage nations will be added by taxation.

This is a good idea. Additional taxation could compensate some of this situation.

I'm not so committed (yet). Boycotts aren't perfect, but spending less at places I'm offended by, surely has some effect (I know I'm not the only one that's going to do the same).

When Indiana was proposing/promoting its anti-gay law a couple of months ago, I made certain to tell one Indiana-based company I deal with... that I was affected directly by the same. I later found that many others had notified them about the same issue. So, while most of us with that company only spend a few thousand a year... when 1000+ of your customers contact you about the same issue... it carries weight/effect.

    It doesn't.

What these companies say back is that they are hiring outsiders because there are not enough people in America to get the help needed.

First, this is a bad argument, because raising the wages would create people who would get training to do the job.
That is what competition is supposed to do.

Second, these companies are misusing the system because they already had people doing the job, but wanted to pay less money in salaries.

    Right.
That was why th Blie Laws were passed way back then.

No one was allowed to do things which promoted sexual promiscuity.
So if a group of feminists/Gays wanted to act sexually available and "talk and ask" others about sexual behaviors and sexual acts, they just could not do it publicly.

The whole world appeared sexually prudent.
    Welfare did not exist.
Abortions did not happen (except some two hundred or so secretly).
The nation was seeing Gays nor lustful men and harlot women on TV and in the movies.

No kids were raised fatherless as bastards either.

I can understand on a purely emotional level why people are angry with disney over this. I personally think that forcing those guys to train their replacements, or lose their severance packages blows huge chunks.

On the other hand, this kind of thing happens all the time. Right now, California is negotiating with the Chinese to help build that high speed rail system using two billion federal grant dollars as part of the carrot on the stick. They will assemble it in California, but with a mixture of chinese and american workers. The rationale given for this is that Americans do not have the technical expertise needed to build a train using technology developed in Japan back when godzilla movies were still being filmed in black and white.

We all know why california is doing this, and it has nothing to do with Americans not being able to build bullet trains. They are trying to save a few dollars on a project that is already massively overbudget, and they haven't laid a single trestle.

Why not just boycott california while we're also boycotting disney?

I see your points. But in the end, I just hope for light to be shed on any given thing and then let people power steer things where they will go.

If mass numbers of people are getting screwed over and the PUBLIC finds out about it... they usually react/respond. It's no different with this.

Disney can look at their Power Point graphs and see if what they say/do is really good for them. I'm willing to be that while we cannot sense individual effects on such a large scale, the people counting dollars in these big corporations can see the effects of whatever they say and/or do.

    Its so bizarre.

I live a few minutes south of Indianapolis, and my apartment complex is probably 75% Indian. The apartments are nice enough, my balcony overlooks a pond. Just thought it was weird they were all Indians. They play volleyball and they're horrible at it.
