    Conclusion?

Yes there's crime. Yes it's stressful. But none of these things excuses the crimes committed by the police. We all know that there's crime in the country and crime among Black people, but to be so infantile to believe the police which are historically corrupt are somehow universally innocent and guided by honor and morality is just really...really naive. To put it in perspective, it would be like saying Obama or Bush deserve our highest admiration and unquestioning praise because they are the leaders of the free world.

    About the video:

No chief: According to my political theories, a chief is a must in all organization. And for sure in the Police. I even come to the conclusion that even a nation need a chief or a king. But there is a little problem here, a chief need to be supported to be functional and to stay on. So right now, this appear to be forgotten by most people around.

Taser: I think it's a good solution with also the paper spray. What need to be understand here, is that mistake and some abuse will for sure happens. It's the downside of having a good weapon that is not super deadly like a gun. I say that force need that to work well.

To explain why I do support the police even if I have problems with them: Well we have a criminals problem on both side.

There needs to be a nationwide reform of the criminal justice system.

In the military, were checked/tested in many ways; we couldn't have planes and bombs falling out of the sky at random. We checked up on people as required. It wasn't ALL perfect, but relatively better than America's LEO's are doing.

What we have now, is people being literally terrorized by cops and put the poor and minorities at the TOP of the list. This MUST stop or America will fall apart from the inside.

Many people I know, worry about cops more than ISIS, North Korea, Iran or China. If so many policemen are ticking time bombs... how can people feel 'safe' around them?!

And... let's stop this nonsense of suggesting that every time someone criticizes or points out problems with the police or the system, they are somehow putting-down ALL cops. That is foolish and wastes time getting the actual problems many citizens are recording and experiencing.

I appreciate and respect people who put their lives on the line to do an important service... but it is definitely time for AMERICANS to grow up and face the real problems out here in our society.

Someone has to teach kids that were dragged up in a single parent household all grown up with no moral compass right from wrong. It's a dirty messy job, but without it our society would become chaos. We can always allow all law abiding citizens to carry firearms, relegating cops to the clean up duties. Eventually all the Treyvon's, Michael Brown's, Richard Matt's and David Sweat's will be eliminated and societal order will be restored.

I respect police when they are helping people, not when they 'have to' or are are being jerks

the war on drugs forces cops to be jerks
seat belt laws force cops to be jerks
    ect.....

time to get rid of laws that force cops to be jerks

good cops do not want to be jerks....

    Goodbye.
Your racist commentary is BS that America doesn't need.
    To 'ignore' with you.

(And I need to remember the above, so I don't make the mistake of ever taking you off of that list.)

Hero worship is just as blind to those who balnket condemn all of them.

There are a lot of cops who are just a thug with a badge.

There are some good ones, but they seem to be the few and far between.

I don't "hero worship" no one (except my deceased parents). There are more "good cops" then there are "bad" IMO. The good is not "few and far between".......
And I'll take a cop long before I'll take a criminal (and yes, I do call 'em thugs).

    Life's simple.
    (1) If you don't like cops, don't call them when you need help.
    (2) If you don't like abortions, don't have one.
    (3) If you don't like gay "marriages", don't marry a gay.
    (4) If you don't like guns, don't buy one.
    (5) If you don't like taxes, don't use benefits that taxes pay for.
    (6) If you don't like corporations, don't buy their goods.
    (7).......etc
<Note: items 2 thru infinity are not related, but, just part of the if you don't like something, don't do/use/be part of it. This is America, you do have those choices>

None of us are angels nor have we ever been, nor will we ever be. Most of the time I'm going to stand on the side of the cops. Why? Because most of the time they are in the right. They are the guys trying to hold back the tide of chaos and chaos is really really bad for the weak and the infirm the old and the very young. To disrespect cops is, in the end, to disrespect civilization it's self.

lol. You can't fix it, so don't even try. It would be funny if not such a sad example of the failed "racist" chant. Who would have ever thought being negative about 2 white guys would be deemed racist by so many?

    Too funny!

I agree with Professor Peabody that criminals require retaliating against, but in many cases the system attacks innocents and punishes victimless crimes. Clearly inner-city black/hispanic males are responsible for an astonishing amount of crime, and we should clearly hold each criminal individual personally responsible for their actions, but some of our responses are unproductive: they're nabbed for possession at a young age and off they go to "crime university", ie: the criminal justice system.

(*)(*)(*)(*) like that can be rectified through an end to prohibition, and that will no doubt clear up a lot of the crime. Where there's demand, there will be supply - and when the penalty for dealing is potentially life in prison, all the peaceful methods of supplying that need are prohibited to the advantage of thugs and killers. Dark net markets are a decent example of how drugs can be sold in a peaceful manner: our laws create these criminal gangs who kill and steal.

But at the end of the day, it comes down to individual responsibility. We can stop turning innocents into criminals, but we still have to punish the criminals who remain. A 1 in 7 violent crime rate in some neighborhoods of Detroit cannot be rectified through legalization of drugs alone: chances are it will require a strong society of lawful CCW permit holders, an end to the massive poverty, and good decisions on the behalf of bad people.

There is no such thing as utopia. There will always be crime. Let's punish it and leave innocents alone.

    What bigotry and racism!

Posts like this perpetuate the marginalization and negative sterotypes of a whole group of people: White police officers.

Almost every story in biased Major Media of late has used the same negative propaganda in complaints about White police officers like Darrin Wilson -- who have the moral fortitude and courage to deal with the most dangerous segment of US society: young Black men.

As the victimized White police officers are in fact minorities in the Black areas they patrol in most cases---they should recieve special status and civil rights protections in cases where they are being attacked and confronted by hostile and racist Blacks.

Time to stop the hate and stop the madness. Support your local police officer, and demand an end to Black thuggery.

This thread is predicated on a straw man.

Can someone point out an argument based on the premise that the police are angels? I've never seen one. On the contrary, our entire American system is based on the limitation of executive authority.

"cop long before I'll take a criminal"

sometimes the cops are the criminals, that is the problem

cops should be held to a much higher standard though then a criminal

we want good cop when we need help... we do not want bad cops

It seems to me that the people who are quick to demonize all Muslims because of a tiny minority of terrorists are the same ones who turn a blind eye to police abuse. Highly hypocritical.
