IMO the attack on the Dallas police station, and standoff proves Obama wrong again.

Obama has banned police forces around the nation from getting any more used military equiptment. It is needed to take down criminals with ever increasing equiptment such as the armored van being used in Dallas. What the Dallas police need to use is an army armored personel carrier with a fairly large gun. That way they could drive right up to that van and tell the fools bail out with your hands up or we fire.

Remember too a couple of years ago when I think it was the LA police didnt have enough fire power to take down two bank robbers with bullet proof vests?

In the world today the police need to be outfitted with equiptment and fire power stronger and better than any criminals or terrorist might have. Why Obama doesnt want that is beyond stupid.

I thought that the incident in Dallas has proved the need for much better gun control laws. Like maybe keeping armor piercing bullets and assault weapons out of civilian hands.

That was the North Hollywood Shootout in 1997 where the bank robbers had body armor. Since then, largely due to the Patriot Act, police departments have more than enough firepower. Why would a grenade launcher be needed by a police officer?

That "cat" is already out of the bag. The idea of "banning" something has never proved to be successful <think prohibition in 1920's-30's>.
And, those so called "assault weapons" are basically nothing more than an average rifle with some black paint.
This (these) guy(s) used an automatic weapon (as I've read so far) that has been heavily "gun law controlled" since the gun law of 1934 (80+ years and counting).
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Firearms_Act

Producing your own "armor piercing bullets" is a (somewhat) relative easy thing to do.

The police have been "outgunned" since guns have been in existence......

maybe not a grenade launcher, but a non-lethal explosive device launcher would come in handy in cases like Ferguson

It would have been great to see these feral thugs get what's coming to them. You decide to become a domestic terrorist and destroy a community, you should expect it.

Should just stick with the pepper balls. That'd disperse them easy enough.

But seriously... shoot the tires out, and roll a few tear gas canisters under the van. They'll come out eventually.

I know, I know, that's too MEAN and not FAIR. We can't be that aggressive anymore cause someone firing automatic weapons at cops may get hurt.

No such thing as an 'assault weapon' unless you are talking about all weapons, guns, knives, baseball bats.

They had a bunch of assault/battle rifles that they modified. They easily shot through car doors that the police used for shields. Everything they had was easily obtainable, and it still is easily obtainable (you can buy ammo online).

Did the criminals get this memo? Somehow, they continue to obtain and use illegal weapons.

Many firearms have been able to shoot through car doors for decades.

Hunting rifles and shot guns even handguns are able to do this.

This is why cops are trained to use the engine block as cover and not the door.

For decades the left has done everything imaginable to break up the family unit, empower the criminal and disarm and persecute the law abiding.

So it makes sense that the left needs gun control to make sure their plan to break America goes unimpeded.

You're focusing on the "Tool" instead of the "Fool".
The Left is a "bad people generating machine".
Repeat after me....."Guns don't kill people....PEOPLE kill people"

    There...was that so hard ?

Cause they care so much about obeying the law right?

They also had pipe bombs, probably made of everyday household stuff. Like the Boston bombing.

So those things... Are they banned too?

There should be a balance to militarizing a local police force. While I am all for police having proper equipment to perform their job, I find there is a problem with taking it too far. And that problem is... you give them all kinds of cool military gadgets, they will go looking for a use to utilize them. To use an analog; like children, give them new toys, ya can't expect them to leave em in the toy box.

Leftist policies don't necessarily generate bad folk. More like they are bad folk enablers.

I don't think this incident is an argument for uparming the police. This is a pretty extreme circumstance and the police did just fine. We can't guarantee their safety anymore than they can guarantee our safety.

They are used to launch tear gas grenades. A lot of police departments were given the old M-79's for just that purpose. If you watched the old Dragnet series back in the 1950's with Jack Webb, you would see them in use. I have never heard of any police anywhere in all my time on this earth using an M-79 or any other grenade launcher to actually launch live grenades. It can also be used to fire beanbag rounds, plastic buckshot and pepper ball rounds.

Armor piercing bullets can and should certainly be kept out of civilian sales. Now if they are obtained from corrup cops or military that should be controllable.
