When you're white, it's not terrorism but a 'mental illness' ?

It's rare if ever I agree with progressives, but they're right to call out the racial double standard when it comes to white terrorism.

This murderer told the church goers he despised blacks, wanted a race war, and believed in segregation. Yet the media wants to say he had a mental illness. I say, BS. I'm tired of downplaying acts of terrorism based on race. If a Muslim had killed Christians for believing they were a lesser religion whose believers needed to be killed, we'd rightfully call this terrorism.

this is a fact: whenever a Neo-Nazi or white supremacist shoots up a church, he is never called a terrorist.

    never.

but if he is Muslim, he is IMMEDIATELY labeled a terrorist. Even if it turns out he had no actual links with any terrorist groups, he is still charged with terrorism.

this is a racist double-standard, and it needs to stop.

if you are inspired by Neo-Nazi political goals, to start a race war or to intimidate black people, and you KILL in order to further your goals, you are a terrorist!!!!

I don't know, I seem to recall that guy that beheaded and killed a few coworkers a few months back was accurately titled "mentally ill". As far as labeling it terrorism, while I realize we have overly complicated its definition, in my mind, an individual acting alone, not part of a larger conspiracy, without outside influence, shouldn't qualify as a terrorist. They are simply a murderer. Being mentally ill doesn't mitigate their crime, but it does explain their motive.

Nice attempt at deflection. The old "they do it too" argument is high level discourse. When blacks do mass shootings, it's never due to mental illness, but a violent culture - which is true most of the time. I just want whites to be held to the same standard, you don't.

    You are the one dodging.

Did the left accuse the DC snipers of a race war or is it only when a white shoots a black?

You can call it terrorism if you like. As far as I know the Ft. Hood Shooting by Major Hasan whom killed 13 people and wounded 30 others is still listed as work place violence. It has come out that Major Hasan had links with terrorist in Yemen.

As for this kid, I am sure it was an act of terrorism for those in the church. Now Timothy McVeigh and the OKC bombing is described as a terrorist act. There are precedence's both ways. If it is found this kid had ties to any terrorist group, then classify it as terrorism. Even if he didn't, it won't bother me if it is classified as terrorist although at the moment the administration is trying to make it a hate crime instead of terrorism. But we will see.

I do think Major Hasan should fall into the same category as Timothy McVeigh though. But that is not going to happen.

I don't care what you thought of the DC sniper, but I presume 'mentally ill' was not one of them.

In my opinion, any murderer must be sent to death.

Regardless of being mental ill or not, if the murderer planned the killings, then this murdered will try to kill again, no matter of any therapy.

The best to protect society from murderers is to eradicate them completely from the rest, including cell guards.

Death penalty for this murderer is the best for the rest of us.

Not much paper work is necessary, and a rope is enough to do the job. We don't need to spend unnecessarily thousands and thousands dollars of taxpayers money in a clear case of murder.

Lets stop making rich corrupt attorneys. This guy planned the murders and he confessed his crime. 12 jurors, a judge, the evidence, and death penalty for the murdered. Simple.

After that, dealing with simple but effective justice with the next criminal.

I think all people should be held to the same standard. But was this a terrorist act or a hate crime as the administration is trying to prove at the moment? Was Major Hasan's on Ft. Hood work place violence or a terrorist act? I think everyone agrees Timothy McVeigh was a terrorist act.

But to hold each individual person to the same standard I think we have to get away from classifying everyone into groups. Hold each accountable and responsible for their actions regardless of what group they fall into. In today's day and age I think we are looking at an impossibility as everything and everyone is broken down and classified into groups. Until we can get back to looking at each and every person as an individual, the standards applied will be via groups.

But does one group's actions and results of the past warrant them to be classified as violent? It does if we continue to break everyone down into groups instead of looking at each person as individuals. We were on the road to an American Culture before the melting pot was done away with. Now we break that down into Black culture, Hispanic culture, Indian culture, Asian Culture, anything but American. Doing it this way was is the wont today, then yes the so called black culture is more violent than the rest. When using DOJ figures from 1980-2008, when 52.6% of all homicides committed in the United States are committed by blacks, yet they only make up 12.5% of the total population, it would not be wrong to denote them as more violent.

Even so, I would prefer everything revert back to each individual and not groups as a whole as that in my opinion tends to condemn an entire group instead of just those who do wrong. But we live in a hyphenated society today, not an American one.

A terrorist act is something inspired to bring fear to a populace or community........killing a bunch of people because you are crazy is not terrorism.

No, Maj. Hasan and the Ft. Hood shooting is still classified as Work Place Violence. At least to this administration. Perhaps he was a terrorist in your mind, but not in this administration's mind.

I cannot think of a black mass shooter who indicated that they were motivated to kill white people because they were bad guys. Can you point me to one of these comparable incidents? If you can, then yes I will say that person wanted to start a race war.

I don't buy the mentally ill excuse. And I don't buy the drug excuse. He was a killer that enjoyed and apparently fantasized and worked up to this event. The drugs simply helpped make his evil dream more doable or pleasurable.

My definition of terrorism is to use a system of fear and terror to achieve an agenda. In a sense our bombing runs in Germany during WW2 was a campaign of terrorism to break the spirit of the German population to end and win the war.

I think roof's main reason for doing what he did was evil pleasure, and he is simply a sadistic killer.

These guys are advocating terrorism but haven't done it. The shooter in South Carolina did. But keep apologizing for white terrorism, it is a good look for you.

I think...speculate...he was coaxed into it. I don't think it was evil, sadistic pleasure or any of that nonsense. He had a reason for doing this. He didn't just snap and shoot from afar, he infiltrated a church group, bided his time, and then took action. It doesn't sound like rogue action, mental illness, or drug-induced insanity.

    But that's just my guess.

I would like to note that for some reason, all the white terrorists get captured alive... The Black ones seems to get killed on sight.

    What is Terrorism?

    https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/investigate/terrorism/terrorism-definition

According to the FBI, you do not have to kill anyone to be a Terrorist.

Using the "Terror" of threatened violence is sufficient.

So, does Shamir Shabazz qualify as a Terrorist?

Coaxed into it by who? He was from what I am seeing quite a loner with few friends and those who hung with him said he was the instigater of these racial thoughts.

And it is my understanding he put up no fight. He was docile when captured. That makes a huge difference when it comes whether a cop will shoot or not.

Those guys in your post are terrorists because they are advocating for it. The white shooter is also a terrorist because he actually committed the act. They're all terrorists, but you refuse to call out terrorism when the person has your skin tone.
