In my platoon, which was 40 men, there were 28 Democrats, 10 Republicans, and 10 independents, including two who voted for the Green Party, and one for the Socialist Party of America.

The makeup of my company, battalion, etc. was mostly similar.

The military is not conservative, buster. It's center left, just like the rest of America

First of all I think you're lying because you're breaking down a platoon by political affiliation wich no one knows....

But just for sake of arguement - did you swear an oath to the people and US Constitution or the US government?

What makes you or anyone else actually believe intelligent soldiers will "just follow orders" when it comes to tyranny???

Of course the progressive fascists would love to "just follow orders" on behalf of a dictator like the Nazi fascists they are - and that is being proven in this thread, but the intelligent soldiers would coup the damn government before that were ever to happen....

I'd say maybe 10% of the US military would actually take up arms against US citizens..

The Army is under civilian control, mister. It doesn't get to go confiscating anything from US citizens. It's explicitly forbidden from doing that.

And you're in no position to issue orders here, sir. This is not the Army.

We swore an oath to obey every single order commanded to us by our superiors, and political views are NOT any reason for exception

I swore to uphold the Constitution from all enemy's foreign and domestic. I also swore to follow the orders of the President of the US and the officers appointed above me, but I was only obligated if those orders were lawful. I did not swear an oath to obey every single order commanded to us.

Good try at some left wing spin, but it doesn't flush.

There are laws against murder. That didn't seem to stop him.

Sure you swore that oath playing call of duty, but I swore an oath as a real life soldier to obey all orders from my superiors

Well, if you intend to follow through with that, then it makes you the perfect lemming for abuse by anyone with a private agenda.

You would commit war crimes if your superior officer commanded you to?

Not me mister, I would rather be court martialed.

The alternative, is for your face to appear forever in the history books, you know, in pictures of Abu Ghraib and the like.

I'm starting to doubt that. A comment like that is something a CoD warrior would say and not something from someone that would have gain maturity while in the military.

There is violence and crime all over the world. Not even whatever country you are from is immune to it. The USA is far from lost. We will have our problems, but we will eventually work through them...and then move on to our next problem just as every country does.

Let me make it simple for you: the only "moral" responsibility Congress has is to uphold and defend the Constitution.

Nancy Pelosi is a typical BS liberal who thinks she "owns" morality, and she's actually so deluded she really believes she has any claim at all to the "moral high ground".

Here's the Wicked Witch of the West, lecturing Congress on its "moral responsibility".

It's enough to make me want to vomit.

I see, and could the illegal alien have purchased the gun and committed the murderer if he wasn't here?

PRIOR to that, it could have been prevented with border security, and the expulsion of illegals.

And you know this just how? Reports state the gun was stolen from a federal agent's care. Considering that Mexico is awash in guns, did you consider that he might have sought alternative sources for his firearm? Nah, you're a liberal.

    Illegal immigrant shoots someone.

Blame the gun instead of the illegal immigrant.

This is just another common example of leftist stupidity. People with views like this end up in the government and base all their decisions on false conclusions. Their stupid egalitarianism has reached such a height that nobody can be blamed for anything, as humans are all so innately virtuous and the undocumented who already broke a law in even being there, are somehow as equal and innocent as everyone else.

South Africa and Brazil also practice gun control. Both of them are amoung the very worst in murder rates. Both of them also have porous borders that easily allow criminals to enter and flee into neighbouring nations.

Forty eight mean in a forty man platoon?

If you cannot even do basic math, why should we believe anything else you have to say?

Liberal pandering political loons caused her death. I'm not saying all democrats are responsible, but these are the pathetic people you all elected, so you all do bare some responsibility. If you are going to vote for a democrat, make sure they are for America first

    http://www.army.mil/values/oath.html

Where exactly in the official oath, does it mention obeying every single order commanded by your superiors? Soldiers are never permitted to use the defense "I was just following orders" when carrying out actions that constitute war crimes. You cannot murder civilians, or commit other heinous atrocities, and claim you were ordered to do so, even if you were.

No you never did. Neither oath nor the USMCJ suggest such nonsense.

“Any person subject to this chapter who—

    (1) violates or fails to obey any lawful general order or regulation;

    (2) having knowledge of any other lawful order issued by a member of the armed forces, which it is his duty to obey, fails to obey the order; or

    (3) is derelict in the performance of his duties; shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.”

    Read....

Lawful is the key word here.. Not any or all.....

Where do you live? England? If so, you have racial problems of your own and even without guns, you're still managing to kill each other.

China is a dictatorship. Japan has been a dictatorship until 1945. Spain has been a dictatorship on and off since the 11th century. I would rather not have the souls and spirits of an entire nation crushed under a dictatorship simply because Democratic Party policies went awry. Its a matter of calculus, is the whole nation's freedom worth more than one life?
