Since when does Carter get a free pass from Republicans? Bill Clinton certainly didn't either. I think it's the "Democrat" thing that Republicans object to more than race or gender.

We've had women and blacks run for the Republican nomination and before the Dems did. And the Democrats haven't had a woman run in the general election either. OP FAIL.

And they went after Allen Keyes as well.
Elizabeth Dole ran for president. Epic OP fail.

It has to do with realignment and re-calibration of perceived/actual privilege and power.

And it is mostly White Americans who just can't or won't allow themselves to see that minority Americans are very much similar to themselves. They are scared, for virtually 'nothing'. :(

Nothing against black or female. I would vote for whoever I thought was best qualified regardless of sex or skin color and likewise I would also criticize them if I thought they were wrong.

what I do have a major problem with however is people who vote for someone and then unquestionably support them simply because they are black or female. That is both racist and stupid.

The first time what has ever happened? You're not implying that Stacey Dash is the only black female conservative are you? If so, you really need to get out more. There are a LOT of black and female conservatives that are constantly being bombarded with racist and sexist attacks from leftists who can't handle the idea of someone disagreeing with them. Especially when that person is someone who the leftist believes is supposed to be part of a victim class that they are supposed to be protecting. They don't like the idea of a black person or woman not needing their help.

No, Stacy Dash being mentioned in a positive light other than her role in Clueless. Also, there are not a "lot" of black female conservatives. I understand they do exist. However, I think you are taking liberty with the meaning of 'lot'.

Do conservatives ever consider the failure of their party to connect with minorities is in any way the fault of the republican party?

Some eighty people responded from across the county. They are likely better informed than the average Republican and perhaps slightly more conservative, but fairly representative nonetheless. The results:

    Fiorina 55
    Cruz 50
    Walker 32
    Carson 22
    Rubio 19
    Jindal 14
    Trump 11
    Paul 8
    Kasich 5
    Huckabee 5
    Perry 4
    Santorum 3
    Christie 1
    Bush 1

    I'm not.

I'm afraid of electing somebody because they are black or a woman.

    End thread.

LOL, you people will say and do anything in the name of the greater good "utopia". The name of the thread is "Why are Republicans SO! afraid of a Black Man or Woman as President". If you want a 3rd grade explanation onto why this is race/sex baiting, i would be glad... but just because it's funny.

I agree, they have refused to work with him because he's black.

People talk about how awful white supremacists are but they actually do have some high minded ideals. Maybe civil rights for impoverished whites are lacking ...etc

I think the worse type of bigot is the average moderate who declares constantly they aren't racist, but have a fit if a gay or black person appears at their cocktail party.

take the time and enlighten this soul on why "Why are Republicans SO! Afraid of a Black Man or Woman as President" isn't race/sex baiting. Treat me like a "dummy" and explain it so me understand.

    "shocking"

Isn't this like the 3rd whole "You are now relegated to the ignore' list.Goodbye." post you've given me? Better ask a PF mod why it ain't workin. Why not explain why you are so "smart" and I am so "dumb". Maybe I'll see the "light" you show me and join you and your "cause"?

Probably said many times over already, but that is one massively stupid OP. Obama's ineptness has nothing to do with he being "black". HE IS AN INCOMEPETENT JACKASS, and he is as white as he is black ! You left that out slick.

Hillary is a lying traitorous inept (*)(*)(*)(*)(*). Did you not know that ?

To completely torpedo your OP ... the GOP puts forth Dr, Ben Carson, or Carly Fiorina. Good for you that ignorance in an OP is not a Federal offense.

In 2002 Janet Reno, Daryl L. Jones and Bill McBride ran for the democratic nomination for governor of Florida.
The woman and the black candidate lost to rich pastey white guy McBride, who got whumped by Jed.

Why were the Democrats afraid to run a woman or a black person? And when have they ever nominated a woman for president?
