LOL! The local Misogynist Club is having a field day!

OH America will surely go "down the toilet" and we will all go broke providing basic needs like toilet paper and tampons !!!

The Really BIG government expenditure...TP and tampons!!!!

WHERE will we get money for WAR if ALL the money goes to tampons and those damn women !!!!!!

Next we'll have people going to the emergency room for FREE at taxpayer's expense!!

The Government is NOT meant to aid citizens! Is that woman crazy!!!!!

It's somewhat misleading to say that liberals don't care about cost, for a few reasons:

1. Inefficient spending on one program takes away from what they can spend on another.
2. Liberals in Western nations at least pretend to be capitalists. Long gone are the days of FDR's 100% tax, liberals today realize the failure of total government control, and so instead seek to regulate and print.
3. The GOP doesn't give a (*)(*)(*)(*) about cost either. They both charge the bill to inflation and avoid having to announce tax hikes. How convenient. Republicans are only better on economic policy when it comes to their rhetoric.

Anyway...

No. I don't think people should have to carry around hand soap and toilet paper everywhere. There are plenty of private establishments with toilets for customers. They have a strong incentive to provide toiletries, because it brings them business.

I've never had trouble finding a private toilet. Occasionallly they make you buy something, but in my experience if you're courteous they don't really care. They just want to keep drug users out of their toilets - maintain a decent appearance and I've had only a handful of issues.

The state providing public toilets, is - in my view, completely unnecessary, and completely ridiculous. It's just another instance of government using my money to fix problems which don't exist. And when you have a blank cheque, why not?

So no restrooms in public schools or government buildings...everyone should head to the nearest restaurant when they have to go....YUP, that damn government has no business providing such unnecessary things as bathrooms for it's citizens when it has War and Wall Street to pay for ....

Will be a waste of money. They will all be stolen the minute they're restocked. Guaranteed!!! This lawmaker has the IQ of 10. I know this because a while back at my work place, where actual educated women work, they tried this and guess what. Women with plenty of money, cleared out the dispensary every Monday morning. I was floored. Guess what happened? We stopped bothering giving them free stuff. The STUPIDS ruin it for the rest....as always.

Same way people will steal staplers and paper I guess. They can't help their primitive brains.

Whether public schools should be abolished is a separate issue which makes your point moot. As for courthouses and the such - sure, why not. Go ahead, have your tampons there. My post was moreso addressing public toilets. Like... in parks and the such.

I'm virulently anti-war and anti-wall street. Neither should get a dollar in spending.

PUBLIC restrooms in PUBLIC parks are run by the government.....that's why they're called PUBLIC....and if you really want Third World Country Status for America (people defecating on the lawn or annoying PAYING guests in restaurants ) just go to one....

The rhetoric, it's overpowering. I have no desire to join your antagonism, so it'll suffice to say...

What a complete joke. Judge for yourself, fellow PFers.

We could be like EU and make people pay to use public bathrooms=) I was floored when I saw I had to pay a coin. I appreciated the cleanliness, but still.

A business who chooses to offer free feminine products would, no doubt, have an edge over those who do not, at the price of higher operating costs for their restrooms. As a business owner, I'd have to seriously look at that to see if it would benefit me. To suggest that government should mandate it, is, of course, asinine.

Bad idea and I can tell you how it will go. Ever been to a public restroom and they have that "sandpaper" toilet paper? I don't think women would enjoy (or even take advantage) of pads made by the lowest bidder. OUCH lol

If this bill were passed, perhaps conservatives could boycott by not using any of the feminine hygiene products in state bathrooms. That way they could show that they are doing their part to help the state save money.

It really does help cut down on unsavory odors and insect infestations in public spaces. Not everyone is civic minded enough to find a politically correct place to relieve themselves.

Was it on this board I read that they're having trouble keeping the boys from urinating in public? in--oh--China or India, I think. And they were building public toilets at great expense.

I had a genius idea--Urinal Kiosks. They would be circular, with four or five pie-shaped urinals in them, and no doors. The "no"doors" would draw in those who like to take a whizz on the fly, so to speak.

It would really cut down on the necessary plumbing and construction costs. They could make them out of tough molded plastic like the Porta Potties rented out to organizations for flea markets, etc in the US.

You heard it first here, folks.

MAYBE THEY COULD DO WHAT THEY DO WITH RAT CONDITIONING EXPERIMENTS--PLACE THE NECESSITIES IN A MACHINE THAT DISPENSES THEM ONE AT A TIME AFTER A LEVER IS PRESSED A CERTAIN NUMBER OF TIMES, ONLY ONE AT A TIME, AND GIVES A SHOCK FOR PRESSING THE LEVER TOO MANY TIMES OVER A CERTAIN INTERVAL OF TIME...

(oops; my caps were on...ah, well.....)

Might still, somewhere.

I remember wondering, What if I didn't HAVE a dime?

No it isn't. Even before tampons and pads women did run around with good flowing down their legs. Tell me us the next thing all public restrooms must have bandaids and gauze and tape?

It used to be that way all over the US.

"Here I sit all broken hearted.
Came to dump but only farted.
Wasted a dime, oh what the hell.
At least I can sit here and enjoy the smell."

Pee on the sidewalk? I can't recall any pay to play bathrooms? Was this before the 80s?
