In the US there is on average a mass shooting a day. That's probably not a surprise to Americans but that's because they've become accustomed to it. Only the mass shootings with very high body counts make the national news so the smaller shootings of four or more people blend into the background, behind the louder and more shrill cries that "Obama is a gun grabber!"

The issue is that as far as gun safety in the US is concerned anarchy rules. The government is doing nothing, even incrementally, to keep Americans safe from these mass shootings.

I'm going to guess that source that you wont link ( breaking forum rules) is related to Bloomberg who decides to change the definition of Mass Shooting because he is better then the FBI... Am i right?

This ugly factor makes one ashamed of their country. It shouldn't be this way. Our country is a beautiful country and does not need guns. I hope the President issues such a severe Executive Action against guns that gun owners will be in shock.

Its more like 360-ish people killed/injured/involved in mass shootings in the past X number of years. And a mass shooting apparently is 4+ people injured in one incident. Not exactly what you think.

In a recent report, the Congressional Research Service found a slight uptick in recent years in shootings in which four or more victims died. The report found an average of 22.4 mass shootings a year from 2009 to 2013, compared with 20.2 shootings a year during the previous five years.

But James Alan Fox, a criminologist at Northeastern University, said his research showed the number of such shootings has roughly held steady in recent decades.

He said that if analysts added a single year, 2014, and looked at four-year intervals instead of five-year intervals, the average number of annual mass shootings actually declined slightly from 2011 to 2014, compared with the previous four-year period.

“It’s a matter of how you slice it,” said Professor Fox, who nonetheless praised the research service’s report.

So according to the OP there is only 22 days in a year ;)

Well BO peeps facts didn't line up with reality either, over his stupid statements about no other country tops out the US with mass gun shootings.

BO didn't want to admit that Norway tops the Charts. Although someone should have jumped up and said Enough is Enough BO peep. You will not stand here stuttering like a moron and outright Lie about this issue.

Bo needs to be called out anytime he opens that mouth of his, for the rest of his remaining time in Office.

If the MS media refuses to do their job. Then let the American people take it into their hands. BO Peep will get the message then!

I truly enjoy people posting links claiming something was factual and then coming in and debunking them with their own link.....

And if a mass shooting is indeed defined as 4+ injured people in one incident, I wonder how many are gang violence we don't hear about because it doesn't push the narrative that white Christians are the "REAL" danger=)

You gave your opinion on the source. You did not refute its main thesis:

"That is how often, on average, shootings that left four or more people wounded or dead occurred in the United States this year, according to compilations of episodes derived from news reports. --- More than one a day."

Still not defined as a mass shooting so the OP is either a FAIL or a LIE.

Maybe we would all be better off if you found a country you can be proud of. Maybe it will have a king who can tell you how to live.

You left out ....depend on news accounts and are not official.

You also left out the actual number is around 22 a year... There are more then 22 days in year so the entire premise of the article and this thread is nothing but misinformation.

Oh, I agree with the weekly mass shootings. This has all been under Obama's regime. Google just how many have occurred since he has been president. I blame his extreme hateful left wing rhetoric that has been a significant part of his tenure. He has caused so much hate and divisiveness in the U.S. He has pitted blacks against whites, republicans and democrats, blacks and police and portrays blacks and Muslims as endless victims and Christians as the devil. He has created this environment and he had better fix it. We have the same gun laws that we had under Bush and Clinton, and yet many more mass shootings under Obama. Anyone with half a brain knows that this is true. Everyone is at each others' throats, blaming, blaming, blaming. I cannot stress this enough------Obama is the WORST. I am really sick of all this.

Oh BO peep and the Demos know all about that gang violence in Chicago, that they keep the reporting down to a bare minimum. They also like to hide the fact that many of those gang shootings are race related. Especially between the Latinos and Blacks.

"More data is available for mass shootings calculated by a different standard, one used by congressional researchers and other experts who study mass killings: four or more dead. But experts fiercely debate whether mass shootings by that more deadly standard have remained level or ticked up slightly in recent years."

The standard is the official standard used by the FBI...

This article implies that the Bloomberg idiots standard is the official one.. Come on guys dont buy into this bull(*)(*)(*)(*).

22.4 is not 365 no matter how many different ways you slice it.

    I don't accept your definition, to wit;

"Mass shootings can be a form of mass murder, which is commonly categorized as the murder of four or more people with no cooling off period" - Source

As much as I dislike him, Obama has nothing to do with this. Let's just stick with provable facts.

HMMM........taking in the number of people (462) you quote and the number of days so far this year (365 - 28 = 337) 337 and the definition of a "mass shooting" ("Mass shootings can be a form of mass murder, which is commonly categorized as the murder of four or more people with no cooling off period")............The number should be around 1350 or so.....
I'd say your OP is full of MATH HOLES it ain't funny!!!
