Amid threats, zombie Nativity scene lives to see another day

Some folks try and allow their children the opportunity to grow up and be children for their early years without having dicks waved around in their presence. I know, how antiquated. Would you give your preteen daughter a dildo to play with? How about your teen daughter? If not, why not? Better yet would you allow your neighbor to give them one to play with?

 

I don't have a daughter.

A dildo is much different than and artistic interpretation, intentional or otherwise, of a penis.

 

It's interesting how inflammatory actions against Christians, like in this story, are celebrated as "free speech", but inflammatory actions against Muslims, like drawing pictures of Muhammad, are condemned as bigotry, racism, Islamophobia, hate speech, etc.

 

His lawn should be able to without b/s from the government. Funny thing is he said him and his family are devout catholics.

 

Well, a couple hundred years ago, not thousands, and there are Christians still using them to justify the execution of non-believers in places like Uganda, but that's not what I was saying. None of that matters. I'm not comparing Muslims to Jews and Christians. I'm comparing a monument of the 10 Commandments to Night of the Living Lawn Ornaments and the abominable snow penis. Sure, the 10 Commandments don't present a real threat, but neither do unseasonally repurposed Halloween decorations or suggestively sculpted snowflakes.

I can see someone being offended by the zombie manger. I can more easily see someone being offended by a shrine to set of laws that say, "You see that guy over there with the zombie manger? Once upon a time, we would have thrown rocks at that mother(*)(*)(*)(*)er until he stopped twitching."

Of course not, which is why I've never in my life objected to anyone erecting a statue of the 4 Commandments, even on public property; but I never see a monument to the 4 Commandments, only the 10. It's the ones that contradict our first amendment that I find tasteless. Sure, it is within your first amendment rights to erect such a statue, I just find the fact that the laws they commemorate are so antithetical to our first amendment.

And all of this is just shooting the (*)(*)(*)(*). I find parts of the Bible way more offensive than the manger scene or a snow penis, and since we are talking about what offends people, I'm bringing it up for the sake of conversation. If someone else is more offended by a tasteless reimagining of their savior's birth or a subzero replica of genitalia, that's cool. I'm more offended by a book that says it used to be okay to kill people for stuff like that.

 

It is interesting how this statement doesn't seem representative of anyone actually having this discussion.

 

If there was a Jesus, he wasn't a mindless zombie when he rose from the dead (if he actually did). What is it with people today? Are there no dictionaries or encyclopedias used in the school system today?

In America, it's ok to dunk a crucifix in human urine and call it art. In America, it's ok to put up a display of ghoulish mockery towards the birth of Christ..and call it a decoration.

 

Good thing he lives in Ohio, and his freedom of speech is protected by the Constitution.

Point taken. I kinda like the idea of treating others the way you want to be treated, so if you are an (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) (well not you necessarily) don't be surprised if you get treated specially. The 10 commandments are derived from the Book of the Dead. Moses would have had access to the Egyptian Library, and most likely used it for the basics of the commandments. They are not only about fair and ethical treatment but about control, and obedience. Not really offended by them, just wish people would know and understand the actual history rather than the mystical mumbo jumbo.

Jesus is one thing but by using "CHRIST" you imply that Jesus was the "CHRIST" and anyone who knows the meaning and acknowledges that there was a "CHRIST" and then makes that statement is confused or just race bating. Remember that the liberal horde considers Arabs and the islamoites a race and Jesus was in the middle of that group or do you believe the pictures Jesus that you have seen in church??

You think out of the many motivations this guy had to create this scene (which I'm not opposed to, by the way), he didn't once consider how it would be received by people passing by? At best, the guy is a troll. Just a troll. Calling it an "attack" is probably not accurate, but I think calling this guy what he is--a troll--is not inaccurate. That being said, it is interesting to think of how differently this story likely would have been received by many left-leaning posters on this forum if he had made a "zombie-depiction" of some scene from the Qu'ran.
