I wonder if Cruz has a million dollars for legal fees and will be shopping for an activist judge to rule in his favor like Barack Obama had to do ?

Where did Barack come up with a million dollars ? Probably borrowed it from Bill Ayres.

I hear Cruz is possibly suspending his campaign. Do not waste your vote on him.

Citizenship and natural born citizenship aren't the same thing. Congress can change the constitutional requirements for president without an amendment?

    - - - Updated - - -

When did s judge rule on Obama?

I believe it was back in 2008. Google it. I do remember from reading the court transcripts that the activist judge refused to allow Natural Law to be entered in as evidence and used English Common Law instead to make his ruling, ignoring that the authors of the 14th Amendment used Vattels when writing the Amendment.

What judge? Does the judge who ruled on Barak Obama have a name?

Sorry, gentlemen, but Obama got a Social Security number designated specifically for residents of Connecticut. Obama never lived there and he didn't apply for an SS number while being a resident of Connecticut. We know virtually nothing FACTUAL about this man, and thank God we'll be rid of him in just about eleven months.

That said, in fairness, I tried to find out where Ted Cruz got his Social Security number, and I can't find it on the internet anywhere.... It would be very interesting to know this!

He probably got it in Texas as a young adult.. Most Americans didn't get a social security number at birth until the mid 1970s.

When did Trump change his name to Lawrence?
You know, the person pushing this and endorsing Ben Carson?

I agree with him more than any other candidate besides Ben Carson. I won't vote for him unless or until the Supreme Court rules he's eligible.

If you are that curious, I would suggest start following the money. Start with "Obama for America" and follow the money that went to Obama's lawyer of the international law firm, Perkins Coie. The same law firm that represented Salim Ahmed Hamdan, Osama bin Laden’s bodyguard and driver.

No wonder lawyers are looked upon as being scum, they'll represent anyone for a buck.

If this were the case, and this defined you as natural born, I don't know why there would be differing legal opinions or a court would hear the case.

I am not a great legal mind. Some suggest that the issue has never been settled. I can try and guide them here to listen to you... but I expect this should play out in court.

In the Cruz case, it isn't like a state circuit court in Chicago's ruling will have any binding effect other than in the state circuit where it is heard.

Actually it isn't different. While McCain was born on a US military base, and members of the US military on that base were subject to the UCMJ, the base was still a part of the sovereign territory of Panama and subject to the jurisdiction of the government of Panama.

The only part of a foreign nation that is considered to be the sovereign territory of a foreign nation where a person is subject to the jurisdiction of that foreign nation is the embassy grounds based upon treaty agreements. If a person is born at the US embassy then they would probably be considered to be a natural born citizen based upon the 14th Amendment requirements. The same is true of US flagged ships on the high seas that are considered to be a part of the United States and subject to the jurisdiction of the United States government.

Social Security card numbers are generally assigned based upon the mailing address for the application but that isn't carved in stone. A person does not have to actually reside at the address on the application for the Social Security card and it has no bearing on US citizenship anyway. Only the place of birth matters because natural born citizenship is established by Jus Soli (the right of soil) and President Obama was born in Honolulu Hawaii in 1961 and is unquestionably a natural born citizen of the United States.

Kind of shows an arrogance or a lack of insight on Cruz's part for not taking care of this before he ran. One wonders what other lack of insight Cruz might have. Does it strike anyone as odd at how low our choices are in this race. One candidate is a reality tv star, another isn't even a citizen, one is a knife-fighter (on his mother), another one is a robot that has his talking points memorized to a tee, and has family ties with gangsters, another one thinks it is his right to be the prez since daddy and big bro were presidents; one is a communist agitator, and another is a pathological liar. Then there is Kasich who no one can seem to find the 'dirty deeds' on; but he is simply too white for today's demographics.

While the debate can go on and on based upon the fact that Ted Cruz doesn't meet the criteria established in the 14th Amendment for natural born citizenship (i.e. born in the United States... and subject to the jurisdiction thereof) the fact that the plaintiffs don't have "standing" in the case and it's eventually going to be tossed out of court continues to be ignored.

We know from the numerous (Obama) "birther" lawsuits that a private citizen doesn't have standing because all of those lawsuits were tossed out of court based upon a "lack of standing" by the plaintiffs. I would also claim that Congress doesn't have standing, the President (and DOJ) doesn't have standing, nor does state government or the AG's for state. None of these have "standing" because they cannot establish any direct harm based upon whether Ted Cruz becomes president or not.

There's only one person that I know of that actually has "standing" in a lawsuit addressing Ted Cruz's eligibility as a "natural born citizen" and that's Ted Cruz and then only if he's denied being placed upon the ballot for the general election in November by the Board of Elections in any state. The Board of Elections for the state doesn't have to go to court to deny Ted Cruz from being on the ballot.

The question would be if Ted Cruz would contest this action or simply ignore it hoping to be elected without the potential electoral college vote from that state. If it was a heavily Democratic state he'd probably ignore it because he has nothing to gain and a lot to lose if the lawsuit decision goes against him. By not contesting the action nothing negative happens because he wouldn't win the electoral college votes anyway. If he did contest it he could be eliminated from being president completely and even if elected prior to a Supreme Court decision and he would be removed from office and the VP would become president.

The issue of "Standing" is huge because no case will be adjudicated if the plaintiff doesn't have standing and I believe that Ted Cruz is the only person that would ever have "standing" related to whether he's a natural born citizen or not.

In truth, from a legal perspective, not addressing the issue of "natural born US citizen" is a very astute political move by Ted Cruz. As noted, to my knowledge, no one has "standing" to challenge his natural born citizenship status in a court of law. This includes all private citizens as well as Congress, the President, and/or even the State governments. The only person that has standing in the case is Ted Cruz and then only if he's denied being placed on the ballot in November by a State Board of Elections (that doesn't have to go to court). As previously noted then he has the option of contesting that decision or not in court. If it's a Democratic state where he doesn't anticipate winning the Electoral College votes from that state he'd be advised to ignore it completely because being on the ballot won't adversely effect his possible election.

Ted Cruz is really sitting in the catbird seat when it comes to the issue of natural born citizenship. No one can challenge it in court and he has the option of challenging it if any state denies him a place on the ballot.

Re Shiva_TD post: Interesting viewpoint on the "lack of standing" reason for dismissing Obama birther lawsuits. I had to go read over the material again, it was so nice to trip across Orly Taitz once again, LOL. I'm shocked, just shocked she isn't all over the Ted Cruz birther possibilities. She has claimed Cruz, Rubio and the departed Jindal are all not natural born citizens but has been eerily quiet - maybe the media finally learned its lesson, and not give this lunatic air time.

As for "lack of standing", from what I gather there was no harm done to an individual citizen voter as the harm is too vague? However, in the case of Cruz, there may be harm done to other candidates, would this then negate the lack of standing problem? I would think there are many, many parties who could get past the lack of standing issue.

Personally I don't think Cruz has a problem regarding his eligibility which is too bad as I think that, out of all the candidates, he just might be the most dangerous person to ever get close to the Oval Office. Just my opinion.

Okay, but see the last sentence:

John McCain was born on August 29, 1936, at Coco Solo Naval Air Station in the Panama Canal Zone, to naval officer John S. McCain Jr. (1911–1981) and Roberta (Wright) McCain (born 1912). He has a younger brother named Joe and an elder sister named Sandy.[2] At that time, the Panama Canal was under U.S. control.[3]

When I was a young lad in Texas a million years ago, I applied for a Social Security number and card, both of which were mandatory for my first job (at age 13). What was provided to me turned was an SS number restricted to persons born when I was born, and for being a resident of Texas. It's not advanced nuclear physics.

So, why did Barack Obama end up with an SS number provided to residents who lived in Connecticut, a state in which he never lived or has ever lived? I've heard lots of wispy rationalizations from Obama's "Praetorian Guard" about how that could have happened, but all of them smell like fraud and lies to me. But Barack Obama has never indulged in fraud or lies has he...? :roflol:

It's been "unquestionable" to the unquestioning, Shiva, but there's no use in going over all that again.

I don't care where anybody is born anymore. Perhaps I've absorbed more of that hyperliberal, toxic, "progressive" mind-warp than I'm willing to admit for the past seven years, so now I see us all as "citizens of the world", and so it doesn't matter whether anybody is "natural-born" or not. We've watched this autocratic, wanna-be dictator crap all over the Constitution and get completely away with it -- except for the parts that were shoved right back in his face by the Conservatives on the Supreme Court... and now the champion among those Justices is dead! So, the Constitution says the president must be "natural-born"? Well, in the words of so many, many, many hyperliberal socialists whose posts I've read here for over seven years, "WHO CARES?"

So, somebody wants to be president whose pregnant mother schlepped around the world trying to chase down the father, but had to give birth in Kenya -- then quickly flew back to Hawaii because Kenya was a stone-age dump? No problem! Somebody else wants to be top dog but was born in the Panama Canal Zone? No problem! Then another one surfaces who was born in Canada and wants the top job? No problem! We're so desperate now to have somebody run the country who isn't as bad as Idiot Bush or Idiot Obama that anybody will do! Why don't you run for president, Shiva? We could probably do a hell of a lot worse... and very likely we will....
