Not as much of it going on as you might suspect. Lots of people chime in on threads, and it can seem like a doggedly repetitive conversation when its really just a bunch of different people saying very similar things. But when its just one? Makes me wonder.

On topic- The framing of the middle east/terrorist problem as a religious issue is convenient. It allows us to label all the suffering going on over there as the product of irrational religious zealotry. Makes us better people by comparison. A load of self delusion in other words.

Since they see hatred as the main mode of human relationship and bigotry is the main political mode of expressing hatred, their politics is basically a matter of trying to increase and profit off the animosity all humans feel toward each other.

What was once acceptable is no longer acceptable today because mankind learns from it's mistakes. That doesn't mean it doesn't happen but instead that through ever increasing knowledge and understanding previous actions become unacceptable.

For example the world community finally acknowledged the "inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by war" by the end of WW II. No longer is it acceptable for any country to use military conquest as a means of expanding it's territory.

That didn't prevented Israel from invading Syria to annex the Golan Heights and it hasn't prevented Israel from seeking to acquire Palestinian territory that it also invaded in 1967 and that remains under the military control of Israel. All our knowledge and understanding has establish that Israel's actions are unacceptable in the eyes of the world community but it didn't prevent the act that violated that knowledge and understanding,

When Iraq invaded Kuwait the UN Security Council authorized the use of military force to remove the Iraqi military from Kuwait and many would argue that it's now time for the UN Security Council to authorize the use of military force to remove the Israeli military from Palestine.

HOW do these poll show this? What questions do they use, how was their sampling done, etc? More importantly, WHO did them? It's very easy to slant and bias polls to make them say anything you want.
