The borders of countries in Europe changed along all its history. Some countries appeared, some ones disappeared, the border lines moved to and fro. So what? As you noticed, Russia partitioned Poland together with other two European nations - Austria and Prussia. But Russia didn't try to unite with them.

But you're going far from what Boris Johnson is talking about. Russia didn't try to make a united state of Germany and France. This is exactly what Hitler and Napoleon tried to do.

You said poland become part of Russia by accident. Did Russia "accidentally" invade and annex parts of poland, not once, not twice, but thrice in the span of just two decades?? Russia sure does seem prone to accidental invasions.. or, maybe that's just bs excuses. What do you think?

Keep up that attitude, and you might end up the underdogs of a culture even more arrogant than yours.

He's a far right anti-EU nut, Russia has been courting the Eurosketpics for decades they're Putinista stooges who take Putins side on every issue. It is Putler who is waging aggressive wars of conquest based on unifying ethnic Russians the same as Hitler. The Russian Federation is the fourth reich, Putin is the new Hitler, and anyone who supports them is a fascist pig!

Lol no Hitler attempted to unite the Germanic people's through aggressive wars of conquest exactly as Putin claimed as his reason for the illegal war of conquest against the Ukraine.

Most single countries in the EU cannot compete on the world stage economically. Even if some of them could it is still better to negotiate as a bloc. Especially as the richest and largest economic bloc in the world.
The EU has actually been an extremely positive influence on trade, workers rights, environment and banking compared to the US. Indeed I think the EU has a strong future because of this. Military power is less important than financial and moral power in the coming decades.

Poland was out there annexing, invading and doing a load of partitioning for itself in Russia only 20 years before Russia returned the compliment.

It's borders were being redrawn every year. By it's own hands.
It too annexed and invaded Ukraine.

Hitler used all the available methods, not just aggressive wars.
He didn't force half of Europe to become Nazi's half of them wanted to.
    They believed in it.

Who exactly wanted to become Nazi's? You had Fascists in most of Europe. Most of them disliked Hitler and were more or less forced into a union. When it came to it no one followed the Nazi's except maximum a third of a country in some northern European states and eastern European states.

Hmm lets see, half the Dutch, half the Czechs. All the Austrians. All the Bulgarians. All the Romanians. Half the Belgians. Half the Norwegians. Half the Ukrainians. All with their own little SS divisions. Some of the British. Half the French.
And yes there was also allied Fascism in Spain and Italy. Where Hitler was their friend and greatest ally.

Hitler was welcomed as much as he was unwelcome, every where he went.
People invited him to annex. People invited him to invade. People cheered him in the street and joined his political movement and his armies. They came from all over Europe. Not just out of Germany.
they manned his concentration camps. They did it all, all the full on Nazi stuff. A wildly popular fellow in Europe was our Hitler.

After the war... not a Nazi to be found. Go figure.

Apparently they were all unwilling Nazi's afterwards.

But they weren't before. Never forget that.
They loved worshipped and adored Hitler. Until he lost and then they played it all innocent. like it was just Adolf. But they weren't and it wasn't

I was just following zee orders! Willingly and with a bit too much conviction.

From my reading we are talking about opportunists who seized on the occupations and pressures from the Nazi's. You know... the Quislings. Mussolini disliked Hitler and only joined when the war seemed to go the Germans way. As did most of the pre-Nazi Fascists.
The SS divisions where made of of a few thousand mens from each country except for some of the eastern European ones.

Hitler was disliked by everyone more or less and forced the European politics. The divisions between Fascism, Communism and Democracy helped Hitler and pushed the Fascists into his arms. Although Spain and Portugal managed to stay out.
If you believe people invited him to invade you are a subject to Nazi propaganda. The only people who welcomed the Germans as true liberators were the Austrians.

I have connections to multiple European countries. And most have a rich resistance history to the Nazi's. Indeed most of them have constitutions, institutions and parties that date from that time.

Arguing with a Nazi is probably a waste of time though.

    Countries have political factions.
When we invaded Iraq, the kurds, 1/3 of Iraq, allied with us.

When we invaded Afghanistan, the northern Alliance allied with us.
And then we built the ANU. Raised our own allied army from their populace.

It is not often that a nation is without an aggrieved segment of it's populace looking to ally with an invader.
A rival faction who hates his fellow countryman most of all.
This is the norm in all societies.

This is what happens most times.
When we occupy, then yes you get quislings. Whole armies of them usually. Whole political movements.
Hitler was loved. As much as he was hated, he was loved.

He was invited to invade by German speaking minorities in Czech and Poland. It's all true. That happened.
And in other cases like Belgium they arranged their surrender even before he got there or just put up a half hearted fight in France.

Resistance movements certainly existed. More in some places than others. These by no means outnumbered the armies he raised in those provinces. Not even close. These were minority actors.

I also have connections to multiple European countries. Also to multiple people who lived in those countries at the time. They are minded that I should not forget what I have just passed on to you.

The United Kingdom is a combination of four countries,, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are also a series of territories scattered throughout the world like the Faukland Islands and Gibralta.

I've never heard England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland referred to as states.

The United Kingdom is one country. One political state.
But it is compromised of 4 nations.
4 groups of people who self identify together nationally and live in separate definable regions.

Then you must be living on another planet. For the last two decades most European economies and countries have been Americanised so to speak. Not the other way around. More trade regulations to benefit corporations not people, less worker rights, bail out of corrupted banks etc...etc...

This has been the aim of the EU all along, from the first days it was conceived by Wild Bill Donovan, and implemented through agents of influence within local countries.

Ironically (or deservedly?) I think Germany will be the first country to succumb to societal chaos and social unrest, ahead even than Sweden.

It's over, and it was nothing to do with Putin!

('pro-putinism is tantamount to treason.' But then we all know what they say about the sort of individuals who are attracted to internet forums. [IMG] )

I'd like to add that the then elite of Europe very much favoured Hitler. For example, the British "Right Club" had a membership composed of British royalty and aristocrats and all the movers and shakers of the day. A few years ago the names of the membership were published (with no royals named), but there were only a couple of hundred or so names included, whereas, I understand there were closer to 6,000. France also had a very strong number of it's elite favouring Hitler.

I doubt it. The english are quite insignificant in the grand scheme of things. You are more than welcome to drown into irrelevance by yourselves if you so wish.

It's funny how as soon as you mention Hitler, then it's automatic holocaust linking. Hitler did many things, but you don'y have to be thinking about the holocaust when you talk about his artwork, for example.
