Funny, no mention of how much Bill Clinton took from SS, or are you ignorant to that fact?
And any government entitlement program will put a drag on an economy, it's basic economics.
The real factor is how to balance it out for the good of all.

Then you know nothing of basic economics. Show me where S.S. contributes to our national debt.

Canada has the same basic system and if you skin a knee it's great but any serious procedure and you wait for many months

SS is a perfect example of socialism. The government takes your money with lofty promises to give you free stuff for life and take care of you. Then they squander the money and leave you twisting in the wind

Lol! Kook blogs? Like you can produce proof to the contrary. The $2.5 Trillion was money spent we didn't even really have. Bush used projected dollars from the fund and was banking on those revenues to balance the money taken from S.S. and give it back later on. That never happened. And we all know the rest of the story. Bush never did give it back, because there was never anything to give back. He used a huge amount of money as well for tax cuts to the rich. None of this is the fault of S.S. or the program. And it certainly isn't the fault of Socialism; https://www.sott.net/article/232087-Social-Security-Scam-Where-Did-the-2-5-Trillion-Surplus-Go

That's not the fault of Socialism. That is the fault of corrupt government, which is run by people. Socialism doesn't run the people. And, it is not free stuff. Working people pay into it. There is nothing free about it.

So, one more time; this argument is as easy as seeing forest for tree. To see the whole forest, look at the one tree and you will see the rest of the forest. It's basic 101 logic. It can't be that hard for you to get this.

You live in a fantasy world. In the real world the government takes your money, promise's you they will take care of you and then squanders your money leaving you robbed blind. That is the history of socialism. Cuba and Venezuela are perfect "esamples" of this Lucy.

LOL The economy is not just how much government has ya bozo, it's the activity to production and consumption and trade of goods and services.
And i don't consider SS an entitlement, SS is
paid by employees and employers, making it a type of retirement insurance if you will.

Go get a basic economics book, perhaps a Milton Friedman and have have your mom or dad read it to you!

    1) Can you tell me the how much money in deficit the social security program is, that you claim is dragging the country down with it.

    2) Can you tell me the average return on investment a person makes with their social security deductions, you know, the ones that would make you a millionaire.

You see, because the reality is that social security has been running surpluses for decades.
    [IMG] [IMG]

And if you look at the rate of return on social security, it is pretty good. Realistically, you can't really calculate a rate of return, because, like insurance, it depends on if you die, among other things. But do an analysis and to get a risk free rate of return of 4-6% is pretty darn good:
    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-column-miller-socialsecurity-idUSBRE89H0YG20121018

So if this is socialism, it is a program that helps hundreds of millions of Americans and pays for itself giving people who contribute generally a good deal and a small piece of security when they get old. Yea, that is socialism on display...

The fact that the government then "borrows" the money from social security to hide even more massive deficits caused by republican policies of tax cuts combined with massive military spending is not socialism on display, it is failed supply side economics on display.

Milton Friedman? LOl! You mean the guy that the CIA, Nixon, and Henry Kissinger modeled from, who were responsible for destroying the leftist government of Allende in Chile, put in a military dictator Pinochet, and who committed genocide on its own people? Of which the U.S. took advantage of by taking the opportunity to strip the copper resources from the country, which was supposed to be used as wealth for the people. And because of the Milton Friedman model, that never happened. So much for your advise on Milton Friedman. Bad idea!

socialism won't work in poor countries because there is nothing to redistribute.

in rich countries we can redistribute the wealth of kim kardashian and donald trump.
