When you look around and see Islamic terrorist activity in countries all around the globe, then it's reasonable to assume it will someday happen to you. If the innocent Muslims in Japan are needlessly inconvenienced by this then I sort of feel bad for them. But on the other hand, wherever Muslims are bad things tend to happen and the first duty of any government is to protect its citizenry from bad things. Let's face it, Muslims have a nasty reputation that they fought so hard to earn.

Asia is xenophobic. It has always been that way.
I particularly enjoy their culture, however they have a deep seeded hatred for those around them, that are not them.
Not all within these countries share this feeling, but it has been the norm for over two millennia

The Japanese don't hate strangers if they did, they wouldn't be doing business with the world. I find your use of the word 'xenophobic' to be insulting to the Japanese culture......the very culture YOU claim to 'enjoy' so much. I smell a steaming pile of B.S.

Nothing wrong with xenophobia when you're surrounded by a cesspool of primitives either trying to bleed you dry financially or blow you up cause you're an infidel. I wouldn't really call them xenophobic. I would call them smart.

I wish we would stand up for American culture half as much as the Japanese do for their culture.

How open has japans borders been over lets say the last two hundred years? Put that into your google search bar buddy.

They are adapting and that is pleasant to see, but historically they have disliked any outsiders. Labeling something as it is, is not insulting. You have never been to Japan, and it is even more obvious that you have never looked into these claims that japan is not xenophobic.

Btw it's generally all asian countries that have a degree of hatred towards one another (i.e. N. Korea v S. Korea, Korea v Japan, China v Japan, China v China or "Chinese Taipei," and China, Korea, and Japan v literally all other asian countries).

It's also why Japan's crime rate is so low.

Prison in Japan is how prison should be, they do not screw around with violent people.

Their culture isn't perfect by any means, but the idea of personal responsibility there is extremely high.

When did this topic become about me? It sounds like you're bothered by the Asians' actions and redirecting your anger at me because you cant impose your fascist will over them. I guess you'll just have to deal with the fact that they're immune to liberalism.

    - - - Updated - - -

Liberals will never allow it and it starts with the labeling and name calling.

I've lived in Japan for a very, very long time. It's nice and expected for American right wingnuts to cherry pick what they like about the place (Doesn't everyone?) but believe me - it would be a living hell on earth for them to live here in many respects and in general. Assuming that they actually believe the stuff they post on this august website.

I work with a nurse who's daughter currently lives in Japan and teaches English there. From what I've been told the Japanese don't put up with foreigners bullsh$t and will kick their sorry asses out ASAP if they step out of line.

I have such a profound and deep respect for the Japanese. Commodore Perry made an excellent decision in forging the alliance with the Japanese, an alliance that spanned the past couple of centuries with only the 6-year period of WWII separating them. Now Japan's ahead of us in many respects.

In most cases , yes. Although if you have a permanent residency visa they won't. The blanket surveillance thing is a bit of a tempest in a tea cup thing. I've several jack Muslim friends and we've talked about stuff like this and they don't think they are watched any more than other furriners. The mosque might be different but the police often send narks into foreigner popular places anyway to scope out the "scene" so I wouldn't be surprised. Matter of fact, I'm leaving in 20 minutes to meet a couple buds from Turkey and Iran for vitamin Bs. I'll ask them again.

Lol...Seeing as how the japanese are an inbred clan and very homogenous, and the US is a nation of immigrants, exactly what is this American culture that you pine for? All of our values are based on the idea of equality under the law and individual freedom, which have to apply to all of us, not just the ones that racists and bigots think are worthy.
You people don't really understand American values very much. Con values are more in line with repressive ideologies around the world than America's values.

Lol...You know absolutely nothing about Perry's thuggery in Japan and the resentment it created among the japanese.
It's very possible that Perry's gunboat diplomacy led to the conditions that turned Japan into an imperialist warmonger.

Traditional American values center around individualism, self-reliance, the nuclear family (father, mother, children), freedom of religion (not freedom from religion), and equality of opportunity.

You people are hostile to anything that is traditionally American. And your collectivism is blatantly anti-American.
