Just in case you don't remember, it is the goal and policy of the United States to work towards total elimination of nuclear weapons as soon as possible. This has been the official stance of every president since and including Reagan. It is something we have worked hard on, made substantial progress to achieve, and ar per actively working on today.

Before you say it can't be done, go find us a Neutron Bomb. We had that program in the 70s under Carter. We negotiated a total ban with the Soviets and the world hadn't seen one since. Or perhaps you think the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty didn't work. We have done things like this before and there is no reason a total ban on nuclear weapons cannot be achieved.

There is no reason for nuclear weapons. They are an artifact of a bygone era. The sooner we can find an agreed method to decommission the entire arsenals the better.

If the DOD were run by women, would Nuclear Missiles be shaped like Donuts?

Has the US really been striving for total elimination? seems futile to try, and also unecessary and actually harmful. Nukes have prevented wars. Having tens of thousand of nukes is bad, but having no nukes at all is also bad. I don't think nuclear powers would ever give up all their nukes, they're just too useful, too good a deterrance. And that deterrance is a good thing for world peace, and humanity. Lowering the amount of nukes is good, but getting rid of them completely is both impossible and undesriable.

As long as we have enemies who would just as soon destroy us we have a need. While the goal for total elimination is a worthy one, LOTS has to change in the world before that could even begin to be an actual strategy. The fact is without nuclear weapons we most probably would have faced another conventional world war with even higher casualties that the previous two combined.

You created the need when the Japanese attacked us on 9/11 following the call to Jihad on behalf of the homeland mentioned in both the 96 and 98 fatwas of kamikaze Al Quackason, and then you called us occupiers and said we couldn't win, and displayed body bags daily, and displayed numbers of our dead daily, so we nuked them twice and won in days.

None of this is true nor makes any sense. It's more like having a raving lunatic move into your house, but if you threaten to remove him from your house he'll rape your daughter then kill her, rape her dead body, do this to everyone in your family, burn your house down then gouge out your eyes, amputate your limbs and cauterize your wounds then give you an IV bag of nutrients and leave you to heal in pain and torment.

You can get invaded having Nukes look at Russia, Russia has been plagued with problems from the US since the fall of the Soviet Union.

You can be coerced look at the US, or is Trump just full of (*)(*)(*)(*) (well I guess he is but the point is still valid).

Nukes have no effect on most negotiations, just look at North Korea versus US.

all nukes are is a deterrent and thats it. no nuclear power will ever attack another nuclear power out of fear of mutual nuclear annihilation. you cannot hide from a nuclear attack, so the one percent elite that rules these nuclear powers will never let a nuclear war happen, because they know that they would be eradicated along with the masses of poor people that they lord over. Bunkers won't protect you because there are missiles that are designed to penetrate bunkers and go deep into the earth before exploding. There just needs to be a miniaterized nuclear warhead attached to the missile and bam there goes all of your elite ruling class who were hiding in a trillion dollar bunker keep in the ground. Its this wild, total destruction that means no one will ever have the balls to actually wage nuclear war.

People will wage conventional war because it was less destructive and the ruling class are able to stay relatively safe in bunkers, or fortified palaces and what not. Its just human cowardice thats all, honestly, the elite wealthy are more soft, cowardly and pampered than previous generations that ruled humanity.

100% deterrent and nothing else really a country just needs a small nuclear arsenal to make themselves invasion proof. They can get by fine with a crappy conventional army take north korea for example. Even with their antiquated, starving, poorly equipped army america and south korea will not attack. This is because with even a small nuclear arsenal north korea could cause extreme destruction to its neighbors, especially south korea. If not for its nuclear weapons I have no doubt that north korea would have been invaded and conquered by america just like iraq.
