I don't really care how they bear their arms and don't have preferences. I do believe forcing people to get a license for either, or restricting one or the other, is an infringement.

    _____________________________________________

So 30,000 plus deaths per year and twice the number of injuries is OK is it?
What figure would become unacceptable to you to arm civilians?

You mean choose between enlightenment and self delusion

    Law abiding??
Do you mean those who use their good sense not to play around with firearms?

Law Abiding as opposed to crazy azz Minorities that go shooting up people as a fun thing to do.
Those are the People doing most of the killing yet Liberals like you want to disarm the ones not doing the killing.

I suspect no matter what is said you will reject it because crime control has nothing to do with your desire to restrict and ban our guns. we don' have a duty to come up with specifics to bargain for rights we already have. Gun banners, such as you, have to come up with objective reasons to restrict the rights of others in order to advance claims you state are needed for increasing public safety

guess what-I have yet to see any such solutions. Rather I see a passive-aggressive attacks on our rights based on the fact that liberals don't like the voting habits of many active gun owners

You are so right. He's just here to troll. Somehow he gets some satisfaction by thinking he's pissing us off. Nothing could be further from the truth.

What figure would be acceptable to you to strip peoples basic human rights?

How many dead per year is unacceptable to you and requires banning cars?

    They are not more enlightened.

    Law abiding means harming none

that's because most honest and serious gun owners don't vote for Democrats while the groups that create most of the thugs engaging in gun violence are a major constituency for liberal politicians

And pray tell how would that goal be achieved? Tell us how mandatory training will achieve a reduction in individuals demonstrating a lack of critical thinking skills when they are handling a firearm, when even police officers are nowhere near immune to such? How will mandatory background checks on private sales achieve a reduction in someone becoming a mass murderer at some point down the line, when they have no disqualifying record to begin with? How would anything actually be achieved by what you are claiming to be solutions?

Then you should not be involved in this discussion in the first place, when you admit to having no understanding of the matter, and no clue for which you claim to argue.

Firstly, the FBI has stated that eighty percent of all firearm-related offenses are committed by those who cannot legally possess a firearm.

Second, what you imagine is of absolutely no relevance, and should not even be brought up for discussion. Nothing is relevant except for facts, and what is imagined is not facts.

And I suspect that every single child in America could die from gun violence and you would not care if they are not your kids

How does driver training and testing and registration reduce accidents? Can you prove beyond all doubt it does? Yet every state does it. Hmmmmmm

It does not, neither does mandatory firearms training, it is good, not infallible.

There is ample researched evidence that firearm locks and safes will reduce suicide by gun

Given that gun suicide is more successful than other methods this does constitute a win even if you can prove a substitution effect

I'd rather have someone commit suicide with a pistol then with a car

BTW this thread is clearly about the USA. Why do you get involved?

You have some hope of surviving a car crash - and since the majority of Americans committing suicide by gun are white middle aged Americans that represents a big societal problem

How so? everyone is going to die. Maybe those killing themselves save us lots of hospital costs. I knew several people who killed themselves. One guy had ALS and didn't want to spend the last year of his life in diapers and a wheel chair. Another guy had stage 4 pancreatic cancer with zero chance of survival. Another guy was going deaf dumb and blind due to a rapidly spreading brain tumor that was inoperable. In all three cases they spared their families months of pain and thousands of dollars in collateral medical care costs

Because of loneliness and need for attention.

Reminds me of a child in 1st grade always doing or saying something to garner attention.

I rather have someone not kill themselves at all. Suicide is often an impulsive decision. They have interviewed people who have jumped off the golden gate bridge and survived (there are only a few). The fist thought they have after they go over the rail is this was a mistake and I want to live

not a valid reason to ban gun ownership or restrict good people from owning guns

Are you responsible for the deaths if you advocate doing nothing about it?

nope but if there if a civil war happens if the Democrats try to ban guns I think most people who discuss "rules of warfare" would note that gun banners are active members of one side
