The police didn't say that they didn't find a gun. They said they didn't find any weapon at all. Can an unarmed guy rush a stage and kill a dude surrounded by armed, trained security and tons of fans willing to defend him? I guess in some bizarre, purely theoretical sense. However, more importantly, there is absolutely 0 evidence that this is what he intended. He got in an argument with Trump supporters. One of the supporters yelled "gun." There was not gun. That's it. There was no assassination attempt.

Incidentally, this wouldn't even be the first time Trump lied about a near-death experience as a publicity stunt.

 

I would LOVE to have seen that. Imagine several armed good-guy Trump fans reacting to hearing the word "gun" by pulling out their sidearms to take out the "would-be-assassin", accidentally fatally shooting each other in the confusion, then everyone else later finding out there was no would-be assassin in the first place...

This type of deflectionary BS about "assassins" when no weapon is found is just a last ditch effort to drum up the bottom of the barrel - as if either of these campaigns can do such a thing - and incite more hysterics.
