Committing mass murder in order to stir up a race war is certainly exceptional. This is one case where it could be argued that execution is the moral position.

I don't know why, my friend, he's as mentally deranged as all the other cold blooded killers in prison. All cold blooded killers should be put to death. Who you kill, and how, should have no bearing on who gets the death penalty and who doesn't.

Doesn't matter. It's a good rule to live by.

    I disagree.

I think it is a silly bit of nonsense espoused by folks who simply wish to treat others poorly.

    Seriously?

If Dylan Roof lived by that credo the nine people he murdered would still be alive right now.

I don't think it's about being nice, rather its the law and I would assume whatever sections of the US Constitution that guarantee his rights just like any other person. To eliminate the appeals process for certain cases would most likely require an amendment to the constitution.

    Boko Harem.

They, too, advocate rape as a form of punishment.

    Dylann Roof Sentenced to Death

I wonder how many opponents of the death penalty will criticize this, and why.

Some of the victims' families were against the death penalty.

Yeah because that makes complete and total sense. I want to treat others poorly because I'd like for them to treat me poorly. Lol, how ignorant.

I believe that the punishment should fit the crime. Roof killed, he will be killed. That is justice. But all this talk about rape is appalling. Roof didn't rape anybody, but if he did, and was raped in prison, it wouldn't be because he raped; it would be because he is small and weak. THAT is the crime people in prison are raped for. I guarantee you Mike Tyson didn't get raped in prison, and that punishment would have fit his crime. All this call for rape in this thread is just perverted virtue signaling.

Roof gets death penalty...and destroys the narrative that white people (like George Zimmerman lol) can kill black people with impunity. He was sentenced to death in SOUTH CAROLINA, the heart of the Confederacy. The "racist South". If the narrative falls apart there (as it just did), then it falls apart everywhere.

The weirdest thing isn't that you have little idea how depraved you have to be to advocate for rape as legitimate punishment or that you feel the need to make crap up about me, it's that someone's actually clicking 'like' on your posts.

What you are reading is a natural human reaction. No one has suggested tossing the 8th amendment; they are simply expressing their outrage. (I think thatÂ’s covered in one of the amendments!)
I am sure there are some on this forum that would be willing to pull the trigger. I am not one of them.
So humans do not all react the same. I am grateful for our laws.

Excellent point, and since dishonest people will perpetuate their dishonest narratives, they will have to be reminded of that.

The average wait on death row is 22 years nationally. For a federal inmate the process is streamlined as the appeals process is more limited for them (the federal court of appeals, and US supreme Court). Mcviegh lasted about 5 years, and the DC snipers also about 5 years.

The death penalty needs to be changed, they need to put a cap of 5 years or 10 appeals, and not wait until every conceivable appeal is exhausted unless new evidence is admitted. It'd save money and not let them live years they don't deserve.

Full life of free TV, food, sodas, health care, yard time.

    Or death?

Death is a far greater punishment.

I disagree. Life in a cage is not life. If I had to choose between LWOP or death, I would choose death.

I think that is good, we have heard of people being found innocent after ten years.... but in this case their is no doubt he is guilty

with that rule this guy would be dead, murdered by the state

Not sure how Roof will be treated since he killed black people, but most murderers, like all other inmates, will have it good in prison. It's not like it used to be where you got an hour in the yard and 23 behind bars with the only communication choice being a pencil and piece of paper. We're in the process of making electronic tablets for these people because the face to face video chat is already being phased out. They'll have games, music, commissary, phone calls, and face time on these things. It's equivalent to being grounded by your parents when you were a kid, but they don't take anything away from you. It's sad. But, I'd be working somewhere else if all they got was pencils and paper to communicate.

Our justice system has greatly advanced since those days of being wrongly convicted. If a murderer can be proven guilty beyond the shadow of a doubt, he or she should die.

I started thinking that when he decided he didn't need a lawyer... He just didn't want to commit suicide. I guess lethal injection is less messy in his opinion. Too bad the electric chair isn't around anymore.
