What fact did I state? I gave my opinion of their intentions. You are free to give your own opinion on it as well.
I was originally thinking like you say, "Don't let the door hit cha", but than I thought about how Texans were treated during the obama disaster when they wanted to secede. The left would constantly say "the civil war settled this," and would say, in code word, "If you leave, we will kill you!" So now I say we need to use our military might and punish those bats*** insane left wing freaks. Put the entire state under martial law, and arrest all the people who want to leave and charge them with sedition.
Yea, the thing is if we allow California to leave, it won't just be California- Oregon and Washington state will want to leave too; we'll lose the entire West coast. That would be a big time hit for us. I guess I can be persuaded to side in either way, but for now I really do think we need to shut this s*** down.
As of now that would surely be jumping the gun. Beyond that, I'm not crazy about what seems to be the motivation here. Sure, the leftards are arrogant, mean spirited etc., but any punishment meted out needs to serve a higher purpose than mere vengeance.
California, Oregon, and Washington should all become part of Canada and create a new economic superpower. Eventually the East coast could do the same and the D.S.A. (divided states of America) could be a Gulf Coast nation.
I hope they do it. At that point, the responsibility of the US to provide water and power to the state ends. Good luck then. And finally, look at history for what will happen next. After Virginia pulled from the Union, West Virginia pulled itself from Virginia. And here in NorCal, we have long had an attempt to secede and form our own state. Outside of the influence of the population centers of LA-SF-Sacramento. We get almost no services (Oroville Dam is a perfect example), and other than a source of water and power they could not care less about us up here.
California seceding doesn't nessisarily mean joining another country, the state already has one of the 10 biggest economies in the world (bigger than Australia) and has the capabilities of being an independent country. However, people need to understand that while things might look good on paper (California puts more money into the union than what it takes) in practice secession would be bad for both California and the US. Once the state leaves, they would be out of the open border free trade zone that is the United States. Then the state would need to establish its own trade agreements with foreign nations, and there are many powerful economies who would not make any major deals out of diplomatic respect to the US. So seceding only works if you assume the economy would remain exactly the same, which it most definitely would not. Ultimately, the state and the country are better off united
After CA leaves the US and people/companies leave CA, this will certainly not remain the case. Unless it has to deal with some sort of disaster... like an evacuation of ~200k people because a dam might breach.
A country that would have to import both water and power. And yes, everybody please sign the petition. Then the State of Jefferson can break away from California and return to the US. Good luck with your economy at that point. - - - Updated - - - I think he would then be more than happy to have the Red Counties break away from California as well. After all, those Reds are all evil, and California is better without them. Oh wait, to bad almost all of the water and power comes from those red counties.
