A very early 2020 poll shows Donald Trump beating Elizabeth Warren

I have never killed anyone and especially a cop. I have never had any problem with a police officer.

 

Making fun of someone based on the color of their skin isn't very progressive.

Why the devil would the Democrats make Elizabeth Warren their nominee? They need a nominee with charisma, the way Barack Obama had charisma; I didn't agree with most of policies, but by the gods he was likable. I don't know who they're going to elect, but I think they'll have more sense than going for Mrs. I-Totes-Have-Native-American-Ancestry-For-Reals.

Also, I suspect that Democrats will win in 2020 if they field even a modestly sensible nominee. Outside of somewhat insular internet communities, a lot of people voted for Trump (that I know personally) on the basis of 'I hate Hillary' or 'He doesn't actually want to ban Muslim immigration or build a wall, he's just pandering to his base', or often both at once. Those will both be invalidated, not to mention the whole 'The democrats have been in power for eight years and Bad Things Have Happened, clearly we need a change of pace' switching to 'Trump's been in power for four years and Bad Things Have Happened, clearly we need a change of pace'.

I mean, he's been in power for a very short time period and it's already 'Scandal! More scandal! Extra scandal!". After four years he's just going to be another corrupt politician in a lot of people's eyes.

 

Generic, the question goes something like this. In the 2020 presidential election whom would you vote for, Republican Donald Trump or the Democratic candidate.

Notice no name is given for the Democratic candidate. If that question was asked for the last election, say in December of 2015, those answering Democratic candidate could mean they are thinking of Clinton vs. Trump, Sanders vs. Trump, Webb vs. Trump, Biden vs. Trump, O'Malley vs. Trump, anyone who is a democrat vs. Trump.

Any generic candidate will usually win against a named candidate. That is because when you answer generic, you are thinking of your favorite candidate, not some other Democrat in this instant. Your candidate.

 

I don't think it will take 4 years. I foresee the Democrats taking back the house in 2018. The reason may have something to do with scandal or not. But I think his persona will grate on those in the middle, the non-affiliate. Unless Trump can somehow produce a surging economy...his confrontational style, some call it egotistical bullying, will wear mighty thin. He may even lose the house even if most people like his policies, it boils down to likability as you stated and Trump is one hard person for the average American to like.

If I were a Democrat I would run someone from Massachusetts. The last person from Massachusetts to win the presidency was JFK back in 1960. Since then Dukakis lost in 1988, Kerry in 2004 and Romney in 2012.

If Trump is healthy and runs in 2020 he will easily win the election, maybe getting over 360 electoral college votes. The Dem candidate will win in 2024.

I could care less about Warren's ancestry. It's her politics that bother me.
