Everyone would surrender after an atomic bomb. By that definition we should use them in every conflict

They could have withdrawn from mainland Asia, specifically China
Do that and the economic sanctions end; Japan suddenly has all the resources it needs.
Instead, they -chose- to attack the US and gobble up as much of SE Asia as they could.

The proposition that the US somehow forced Japan into going to war is, on every level, unsupportable revisionist nonsense.

There is no PROBABLY about it. It saved millions of civilian and military lives. Far more civilians were killed in the carpet bombing of Tokyo than were killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
