Nobody is saying that Trump has to give up one penny, just those records of what taxes he has paid. Just about every Democrat, and other Republican now serving in Congress for that matter, has put their holdings into what is called a Blind Trust. By that arrangement their businesses are now run by someone else whose identity they don't know (NOT their son who they talk to every day) but who has a fiduciary obligation to run their business well. It is such a common arrangement that I, like most people, thought it was obligatory of all politcians up until now, but then we have always elected fallible men to our offices until now, not infallible paragons of trust whose veracity is so unquestioned that they can't do business in America any more but have gotten most of their capital from Russian mobst....er...oligarchs in recent years..

Still can't debate the thread topics, noted & dismissed. Trump has buried himself in quick sand, he might want to stay still and get a long straw ;). He did this to himself.

Well Comey set the standard that since no one had been charged under the provision of the espionage act that Hillary violated she should not be charged. Why shouldn't the same apply here and this law is about twice as old as that ond.

And the law says those are protected information, you can't sue him just to see them, but yes bodies are saying he has to give up his financial interest and holdings.

Just pointing out the precedent, you know what precedent is and you guys were all over it. Plenty of legal experts out there to say the emoluments clause is a ancient law no one has ever been prosecuted and wouldn't apply here anyway.

And BTW just go ask Jimmy Carter about putting real estate holdings in blind trust.

And what I'm telling you, what you think is BS. And that attitude got you banned a couple of years. Because you are always wrong and accuse and attack others based on what you think.

And you are making a claim about me, telling us what you think, but you can't even find one post to back up why you think what you think.

    That's DDS.

Name one, one who is saying he has to divest totally, not just use a blind trust. I personally couldn't care less about his tax returns, but I am extremely distressed that the highest officeholder in the land is in a position to use the government to enrich himself bigly and insists on staying there.

And please give me even one instance where George Washington violated the Emoluments clause

Not really, that's what the Emoluments Clause is for, as well as most political corruption laws there are. You're generally not allowed to profit by your government service except indirectly, for example you can profit by creating a better climate for businesses, you can't profit by insider trading based on what you know about what the government is going to do because you are the one who will be doing it.

If I'm the Senator in charge of building a bridge are you saying I have the right to direct the steel cable contract to my own company without a bidding process? Are you saying Trump has the right to tell his sons what the lowest bids are for the concrete for his Great Wall?

I meant your concern was fair. I have my problems with Trump and his nepotism along with other things.

I was saying your criticism on that was fair.
