There must always be a safety net for those disabled by external circumstances or acts of god. We agree on this, I'm sure.

As far as I can tell ... and I've been chewing on it for years ... is that it's almost entirely down to posturing. Making sure your 'audience' (friends, colleagues, family, whoever) sees that you're down with the kids. There appears to be so little substance (ie, knowledge, critical thought, experience, ability to extropolate, etc etc), and so very much self-righteous grandstanding, that no other reasonable conclusion can be drawn.

Health care will be carefully discussed prior to passage. Repeal and replace may be done at the same time, or a repeal within 12 months and a replace set up in the meantime.
