Sanctions that are really implimented will slow kim down to a crawl but leave the threat in place as long as he lives

Sanctions on paper that china pretends to support but ignores in actual practice will accomplish nothing

Trying his damndest to escalate things until it comes to that point isn't helping.

Yes. No argument here. That doesn't mean Trump is being any less than an emotional toddler.

Kim is pushing his military threat to include hydrogen warheads over the United States

Trump is trying to avoid destroying north korea but hes getting no help from hand-wringers like you or the chinese

If you want to avoid a war put the pressure on north korea where it belongs

How many homeless people are starving in the U.S.?, why does the U.S. have the largest prisoner population on the planet bar none?. How many are unemployed, poor and miserable because the U.S. pumps trillions of dollars into waging illegal and unjustified wars?.

Kidnapping?, not long ago the U.S. was illegally cherry picking thousands of people of the street in other sovereign countries, detaining them without legal counsel and torturing them.

Whats really shameful is how the U.S. likes to pretend their atrocities and war crimes never happened and point fingers at everyone else. Maybe you should take care of your own problems before creating more problems for everyone else.

Trump is trying no such thing, hence why he is getting criticism from all sides.

Which will require the same international allies that Trump is hell-bent on alienating at all costs, just so he gets to pretend to talk tough for a minute.

They will even attack him for what he doesn't say.

President Trump wasn't addressing U.N. envoys Tuesday when he said America would obliterate North Korea if it attacked the U.S. or its allies.

Rather, Trump seemed to address Kim Jong Un directly, speaking in a language that the pudgy despot understands.

What's fascinating is that Trump's style here matches the Hermit Kingdom's own over-the-top approach to intimidation, which is almost comical in its theatrical tone.

Trump matched North Korea almost note-for-note, which is likely exactly what his speechwriters intended. The president wasn't addressing his audience of genteel envoys when he issued his warning to North Korea. His intended audience appears to have been the rogue nation's gout-plagued boy despot.

Though this seemed sort of obvious, the usual suspects were apoplectic Tuesday.

"[T]he words ‘totally destroy' a nation of 25 million people, that borders on the threat of committing a war crime," ABC News' chief foreign correspondent Terry Moran said Tuesday.

Politico's Susan Glasser tweeted, "President just threatened to 'totally destroy' another country and mocked its leader at UN. Just take a moment to reflect on that."

"‘[T]otally destroy North Korea" seems to be a signal to the North Korean people that they, too, could face annihilation alongside their government leaders," the Washington Post's Aaron Blake wrote Tuesday. "It sounds a lot like Trump is threatening a completely unprecedented effort to wipe out an entire nation, whether through nuclear weapons or more conventional means."

North Korea is a unique situation. Kim Jong Un is a uniquely unhinged enemy. The administration has stated before that it believes North Korea poses the greatest risk to the U.S. and its allies. Trump and his team appear to be trying a new approach, and it's one that involves speaking over the heads of U.N. envoys and going directly at Kim Jong Un in terms he understands. It may not be the most elegant solution, and it's certainly not what we're used to, but blunt threats are sometimes the only thing two-bit despots understand.....snip~

Trump has not attacked north korea and is allowing non military pressure an chance to work first

    **** their "alienation"

They should want to avoid a war in korea for their own best interests

Not because trump asked them nicely

Trump does not have to cajole them to do what they ought to do based on simple common sense

Let me know when you actually figure out what N Korea really stands for......and what the US really stands for. Then see if youre confused anymore.

Not as many as in N Korea. How many are starving over there?

Because.....our people have Rights and Free Will. Many choose to break the law which is their Right to do.

Whats really shameful are those that think they are innocent too. Like Canadians for example. So save the ****in preachin

Last time it was 2010 ... a fact you can like or not, but it is a fact that since then not! is he by anything forbidden to develop missiles? Ehm ... not really!

If mad midget shots next time a missile again over foreign territory like Japan away, then shot it down with your so praised Anti Missile system and show the world if this system is working really and not being only hot air. This will impress Kim too and if he then takes this as war reason (what it is not, because only if you shot down over NK territory it is) and attacks, you have your golden opportunity to eliminate him and then China will not intervene on their side too!

If this is only a very small percentage of people, but this isn't the case!

I can only puke ... out of my knowledge how far people underestimate NK in military abilities! And what **** did I say with my warnings about again please?

No, just openly threatening a preemptive nuclear strike -- further incentivizing NK to develop more weapons and use them preemptively.

Trump in power greatly increases, not decreases, the chance that there will be war. There is a reason why SK has been nervous about Trump's little brain farts.

Wouldn't it be the supreme irony if that "small country" takes out our entire electrical grid, computer networks, and puts us into a situation where we can't even have water pumped to our houses any more.... All NK has to do is explode a relatively unguided thermonuclear hydrogen bomb in the atmosphere over the central U. S. and that's it -- we're F*CKED for at least months to come. And during those 'months' (or years), what does our preening, self-adoring, über-educated Left think that China and North Korea will be doing...? Shaking in their boots because of some bunch of limp-dick 'sanctions'...? :roflol:

You America-hating, hyperliberal Leftists need to grasp the real threat that is staring us in the face:

Imagine! All the 'snowflake' Millennials, along with whatever the subsequent generation of delusional idiots are called, not being able to regale themselves and their little bust-out friends with juicy trivia going 'viral' on social-media -- because the gooks just took out your Internet! Oh, the horror! :omfg:

    Now
do can you even begin to grasp the full extent of this threat...? Probably not. Somehow they'll imagine it all has something to do with Civil War statues, or "White Privilege" or some other hyperlib media-fed crap like that.... Meanwhile, the once-powerful United States sinks down into a toilet full of our own sh*t -- thanks to the witless morons among us....

Again ... good luck if you want to eliminate everyone who is aiming on your country!
The threat exists further, no doubt, but so what? Even the biggest dumbass on this planet knows that if Kim sends 1 of his missiles in anger and targeted to the US, SK or Japan, he will be eliminated in reaction!

Sanctions on paper are of course ridiculous, but what the hack makes you belief that China wants this? Because they don't agree totally to Trump? Sorry, this is lame...

The moral equivalency that liberal anti trumpsters seek does not exist

Since the two bombs that ended WWII America has used its nuclear arsenal as a deterrent only and has not threatened our enemies with a first strike against them

Kim has made it clear he will use his nuclear weapons against anyone who stands in his way of sa unified korea under his authority

I disagree. I don't think they're clean neither, but in international offenses, you top these guys over under sideways down.

You wrote that Trump is a responsible leader: May I remind you that he attacked Syria, while Syria was fighting ISIL? What if China, of NK did this? Since the end of WWII, the US is an imperialistic force, and since the end of the Cold War, an evil imperialistic force.

My poor friend, the monster is you! How did it come to that?

Firing on your enemy is a act of war is it not? How about crossing into your enemies territory? I believe Japan and Trump have said something about shooting lil Kims missiles out of the sky. Which I agree we should do. But give the Japanese first crack at it.

    • February 26, 2014: South Korean defense officials claim that despite warnings a North Korean warship has repeatedly crossed into South Korean waters overnight.[44]
    • March 24, 2014: A North Korean drone is found crashed near Paju. The onboard cameras contain pictures of the Blue House and military installations near the DMZ. Another North Korean drone crashes on Baengnyeongdo on March 31.[45][46]
    • October 10, 2014: North Korean forces fire anti-aircraft rounds at propaganda balloons launched from Paju. South Korean military return fire after a warning.[47]
    • October 19, 2014: A group of North Korean soldiers approach the South Korean border and South Korean soldiers fire warning shots. The North Korean soldiers return fire before retreating. No injuries or property damage result.[48]
    • June 15, 2015: A teenaged North Korean soldier walks across the DMZ and defects at a South Korean guard post in north-eastern Hwacheon.[49]
    • August 4, 2015: Two South Korean soldiers were wounded after stepping on landmines that had allegedly been laid on the southern side of the DMZ by North Korean forces next to a ROK guard post.[50] Kim Jin Moon of the South Korean-based Korea Institute for Defense Analyses, suggested that the incident was planned by members of the General Bureau of Reconnaissance to prove their loyalty to Kim Jong-un.[51]
    • August 20, 2015: As a reaction to the August 4 landmines, South Korea resumed playing propaganda on loudspeakers near the border.[52] In 2004 both sides had agreed to end their loudspeaker broadcasts at each other.[53] North Korea threatened to attack those loudspeakers, and on August 20 North Korea fired a rocket and shells across the border into Yeoncheon County. South Korea responded by firing artillery shells back at the origin of the rocket. There were no reports of injuries on either side.[52][54] Following threats of war from the North, and various troops movements by both North and South Korea and the United States, an agreement was reached on August 24 that North Korea would express sympathy for the landmine incident in return for South Korea deactivating the loudspeakers.[55]
    • January 3, 2016: South Korean soldiers fired warning shots at a suspected North Korean drone near the DMZ....snip~

You've got your numbers right, but the part of the equation about why NK would do that was left conveniently blank.

    Very briefly,

    1. China wants to 'own" everything in and under the South China Sea, and control all movement through it.
    2. China wants to make both South Korea and Japan "vassal-states" of North Korea, which means both of these countries would really be "vassal-states" of China!
    3. China wants to replace the U. S. Dollar as the world's 'reserve currency' with a "basket of currencies" which it would control with the participation of its ally, Russia, among others.

Understand, Donald Trump is not going to do ANYTHING but continue on with this useless "sanctions war". Central bankers, like your own ECB, our Federal Reserve, the Bank of England, et al, think they can rule the world by juggling balance-sheets. And, central bankers tell all our 'leaders' in 'the West' what to do! That includes Donald Trump, your own Angela Merkel, that Macron clown the French just elected, and all the rest of them....

Germany will re-elect Merkel... mostly because all the alternatives are, at this point, even worse than she is. But, after that, you had better look to Russia for new, stronger military and economic alliances. The U. S. is going DOWN, Mandelus, and if you don't want Germany to end up drowning in the same river of sh*t that we are drowning in, you had better save yourselves while you can. You will have about another four years to do this....

Simple rule: a country cannot threaten to destroy the U.S. on a daily basis for several decades and then be allowed to build nuclear missiles capable of reaching Chicago.
